Removing CPU mouting bracket 4 Big Typhoon

Thread Starter
I need some advice on how to remove the old CPU heat sink bracket to put in a Big Typhoon bracket.
The motherboard has 4 plastic clips holding it down.

1) Is it possible to not destroy the clips?
2) Can someone please check my motherboard and let me know if you think the BT wont fit. It’s an ASUS P4S800-MX SE
http://www.asus.com.au/products.aspx...77&modelmenu=1

I have measured the case and it should fit fine but only have a 1 inch gap between the fan and case.

Thanks heaps.

It will fit that mobo.

And, yeah it is possible to remove that heatsink mounting bracket which comes with the motherboard, just takes a little time. To remove the bracket, just push the pins holding the bracket to mobo, from behind the CPU socket, and it they should come off.

You're going to have to break those clips if I remember right. Your TBTT should come with new hardware to secure the bracket to the board.

Hmm, the ones that come with my MSI mobo just came off without damaging the pins.

Will it matter that the top of the TTBT will only be 1 inch from the side of the case?
Only other thing to do is cut a hole in the side of the case.

Only if you have a 1 inch or thicker fan will it give you problems.

When mounting the H bracket on the back of the motherboard can you leave the paper part on the sticky bit that sits against the motherboard? That way I could move it to another MB later on.

Or does it need to be stuck on? I can't see it moving anywhere.

Wow that is a good idea! Too late for me, I removed both sides and stuck it onto mobo...

Seems like you would be ok to stick only one side, because eventually they will all be tightened by screws.
