very frustrated very confused... DDR Problems

Thread Starter
i bought some of the corsair value ram DDR400 but i check in my bios its running at DDR333 and i cant boot it when i manualy set it to DDR400 because some stuff about a windows file missing press r to repair appears

im worried if like its effecting the divider of my cpu and whatever i dont know much about that kind of stuff but would it effect it?

also when i first used this ram i paired it with 2 sticks of DDR333 but those are gone now shouldnt it run in DDR400?

Try resetting the CMOS. If you don't have a jumper to do this remove the standby for maybe 10 seconds and see if that does you any good.

I am UNABLE to run a frequency speed of 255 or so and have DDR400 at the same time (running DDR333). it just doesnt boot. am i not getting enough voltage or what?(1.45 max) i just bought this ram happy to have DDR400 for once and to find out i have to sacrifice cpu speed to have it? it does boot at a frequency of 200 but..thats not cool
what is wrong here?

You might have to run a divider to get it to boot past 255.

no im not talking about getting a higher frequency i want to know why i cant get DDR400 on that speed it boots fine at 200 there must be some point between 200 and 255 where it wont boot for some reason

Yeah, your RAM can't handle that speed, change the FSB:RAM to 5:4 and you should be good to OC further.
EDIT:

DDR means Double Data Rate, so multiply the FSB (255) by 2 to get your RAM frequency. Right now it is trying to run at DDR510.

oh i get it DDR510 so i cant have a high cpu speed and run the ram that fast? do i need something better? because this is all confusing for me i knew ram had alot to do with the cpu but if its DDR510 is it running faster than PC3200?

Some of the Value RAM rated @ CAS2.5 OCes good and some dont
Check on the BIOS options on your MB in the BIOS section. THere is a post on your MB's BIOS there! You might find some helpful OCing info

It's a heck of a lot better than mine, I couldnt go past 215 on the FSB before my ram cut out. I am using Kingston ValueRam, you can guess by the name that it isn't meant for overclocking.
