What brand is your MoBo? If with "default" you mean like the MoBo in a Dell or similar, you might have issues. You should check your Bios if there are any overclocking options available. Obviously, when you start, take small steps and check temps.

Prebuilt computer boards are not suited to overclocking. Most of the BIOS settings needed are locked by the manufacturer. You can sometimes overclock with software but it is just not as good. Your processor will probably overclock pretty well with the right board. Start reading!

It will probably go higher, I am doing that on crap ram and of course water. It is the motherboard letting me do it. If you have a socket 478 it is a good board to keep in mind.

The original motherboard that came with my computer had no overclocking features (it was also missing other things, like an agp slot). I belive that all prebuilt computers (HP,Dell,Compact,ECT) dont have any ocing features on the motherboard. So that means that if you want to overclock you processor then you will likley have to buy a new motherboard

Before I asked for a new motherboard to buy, I would like to know if the program can do the job like the bios? If it cant can you find me a mobo with a 478 socket and pc-2700, and atleast maybe a agp or pci-e slot?

There are some tools that might work such as ClockGen, but I am not sure if they actually will work if your Bios locks your FSB.

Also, I have an older Sony PC, which has an Asus MoBo. I was able to flash this MoBo with a Bios from the Asus website (of course for the proper MoBo) and that way I could overclock that machine. However, this is risky, since you could screw up your Bios and then need a new Bios ROM chip (worst case scenario I guess)

Also, I agree with fstfrddy about the MoBo.
