Overclocking q6600

Thread Starter
Hey

I can overclock my q6600 to 3ghz when I set my ram to 800mhz (its 1066mhz) while running at stock cpu voltage, but for some reason if I set my ram to its stock speed of 1066mhz I cant seem to get a stable overclock on 3ghz even if I bump the cpu voltage up to 1.37 and ram to 2.125. I also added a little to the NB, do you think I maybe need more on the NB?

any suggestions? thx

no, it wont work, as you increase your FSB to overclock your CPU, your ram also gets overclocked along with it. when you set your ram to spec then overclock your CPU you are also overclocking your ram. unless you have a really good ram kit that overclocks well, then you will need to change your strap (setting ram to 800). if your DFI DK-X48 is anything like my DFI UT-P45 board then they dont overclock ram all that well no matter how much voltage you through at it. but really, if you back your ram down to 800, you might find after you overclock your cpu your ram is back to spec (or close enough)
