I have tried a pea size of AS5 put on middle then attach the Heatsink over ... it got the same temps as I spread out the AS5 as I did last time

Yup, it all works out the same, so why waste time and effort spreading it?

following the instructions that come with the hsf is a good start....

as for the as5 I followed the procedure at:

http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_s...structions.htm

I also attached different fan.....one that connects to my VR fan controller...I have the fan on the BT running @2600rpm.

I have used the fan that came with the BT as a front intake fan.

in all my temps have been reduced 5-10C and I'm curious to see if there is anymore drop when the as5 finishes curing.

I just installed the Big Typhoon last night in my rig and I have seen about a 10C drop. one thing you might try is playing with the other case fans. I set mine so the 2 back 80mm are intake and blowing on the heat dispersing tines and the other 3 fans I have are all exausting. I haven't done any load testing yet, but I did rip a whole dvd box set and I never got over 41C.

ambient 23C, case 27C CPU idle-36C working-41C (so far)

if you turn the back exhaust fans to be intake, it may suck a warm air was blow out from the PS and blow back in the case. wouldn't it be more warmer air inside the case then ?
I haven't try that yet... but maybe I just give a try to see wat happen.
