TT Big Typhoon Handeling 1.75v!! - Page 3

Yo. I think I mite just do that and give the lapping another shot when I have a bit of time (I am 18 so am studying for my a-levels at the moment, hence time is a precious commodity).

I would definitily go ahead and get one of those 3700's, mine was £150 3 months ago and I havent looked back since. I just wish I could get it to the big 3Ghz

I was just checking out your idle/load temps waqasr...an 8C rise is awesome. Have you upgraded the BT fan at all? My idle temps are 28C and load temps are 42 = 14C rise, so knowhere near your range. I have just ordered a TT Thunderblade fan as either a TTBT replacement or an extra mobo/case fan (it was only £4 and it says that it does 78cfm with 21DBA but I will believe that when I see it/hear it!)

Ive ordered mine from eclipse computers:

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...code=HFT-A1911

along with an 80mm version of the blue thunderblade as well. I just cannot get enough of blue leds (match my case).

I have heard the stats on these fans are a load of lies, but you cannot go wrong for £4.64.

What HTT/multiplier are you using to get 2.6GHz?

i've tried both, and honestly, there is no difference i have seen, and the blob method is a hell of alot easier to do.

HardwaterH4ck3r I think you are on the mark there. So far I havent found any difference in temps (but I usually do the spread method, because the layer of TIM after the blob method always seems too thick). The only difference I can find is that the spreading method is a true PITA and takes about 10 minutes to get a good spread when using AS5.

I have just checked out your FAQ, and I am really thinking about doing that mod....are these the RAM sinks you used..
http://store.yahoo.com/directron/clc0025.html

EDIT: just read page 2 of your FAQ, you got them from compusa. I think I might give that a go. What load temp reduction do you think I will get from 42C?

Whats your stepping? You really should not need that much voltage for only 600MHz OC...

I am in the same boat as you, I want to lap the IHS but is the 3C drop really gonna be worth the reduced selling on price?

If you were to get 3700SD now you should be aiming for more that 2.8GHz! Mine does 2.92GHz, and there are even newer steppings which do 3-3.1 easy. They arent too expensive either.
use 2k grit then rubbing compound to get that mirror finish.....
