This Zotac GTX460 1G is different to earlier aluminum heatsink version, so the GPU location is about 8Xmm.
I too have a Zotac 1GB, and would really love this cooler; however, i am not sure what you mean about "earlier heatsink version". My card also has the tiny, 3 heat pipe cooler, but also has the non used memory heatsinks part (would work if it had thermal pads). Is that the early or later version?

Basically, as long as i have 80mm from the edge of the GPU to the second DVI slot, this cooler will fit?

You can check the distance by below picture.
The distance between the center of GPU and the edge of 2nd slots's DVI port should have at least 78mm. So, you can use ruler to measure your card.
Attachment 177014
The Zotac GTX460 1G in my previous post didn't have the metal cover for the DVI port. So, icy fits to that card perfectly.

Thanks for the reply - my card also does not have a metal cover on the DVI, so it looks like i should be able to get the same fit.

Looks like i have some ordering to do!

Thank you!!

Hello,

I recently bought a Gainward GTX460 GS, and I can hear it clearly (even @ idle).
I'm very interested in the Spitfire, since it'll need only a 140mm@900RPM to keep the GPU at acceptable temps.

However, when I navigated to this Thermalright page : Link then to the Support tab & then to "Spitfire VGA Compatibility.pdf" on the bottom of the page I saw this :
GTX 460 No compatible

Could anyone confirm that he/she has actually seen this cooler on a GTX 460.
As I understood it, the Gainward / Palit PCB uses "normal" mounting holes like on a G92, which should make the Spitfire compatible. (unlike the stock GF104 Nvidia PCB, which uses a new mounting holes pattern ?)

Our cards, the Palit and Gainward are non-reference cards with g92 mounting holes so the Spitfire will fit. The note that says gtx 460 not compatible is for reference boards only. As an example the g92 has a 53x53 mm (for 4 holes and square shaped) mounting dimension like our palit and gainward while the reference boards have a rectangular shape to their mounting (6) holes.

Check out the post of tony_choi a few threads up. Make sure you measure from the center of the IHS all the way to the edge of the 2nd DVI port, if it is 78mm and greater then it will fit.

Here's a tip, if you want to measure without removing your cooler, measure from the back of the PCB. If you notice you will see your cards mounting holes and in the middle there is a small black IC. Measure from that to the edge (almost) of the sli finger (it should line up and only be 1 mm longer or so past the 2nd DVI port - so subtract this from the measurement you make) and that should give you an idea.

Any chance Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 9800 could be modded to fit on Palit 460? I'm strapped for cash but I can get this cooler for $20 here in Sweden.

By looking at pic I'm worried that all heatpipes would have to be cut to make it fit , there by making it useless

PS How hard are heatpipes to bend without breaking? If I preheat whole heatsink in owen to 100 degree celsius could they be bent like 45 degree without cracking?
