GTX 460 / 560 / 560 Ti aftermarket (air) cooler (non-reference) list - Page 41

Hi, this is my first post here. I found this thread on google while trying to look new cooler for my graphics card. My card is Asus GTX 460 DirectCU 768mb. This: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/asus-engtx460-directcu-top_3.html

Here is picture of it without cooler: http://www.xbitlabs.com/misc/picture/?src=/images/video/asus-engtx460-directcu-top/a460_front2.jpg&1=1

First thought i would use accelero s1 rev2 as i used it in my old card (8800 gts g92). But it dont fit to my card. Cooler mounting screw holes are something like 66mm x 57mm distance. I couldnt find any cooler that fits this card. Maybe someone here has found?

Hi,

I have 2x Gainward GTX 460 GS 1Gb in SLI.

I would like to know if the Rev.2 Icy Vision would fit them! The first card has 2 slots of diference from the second one.

The second one, has 1 slot from my corsair Tx850. Probably it wont fit the second one...

But, seriously, i´m just worried about the first card... that one gets to much heat from the second one... the diferences in temps from one another are 15-20 cº.

You have a reference card my friend so you need to check out coolers that fit the 'reference' model.

To get you in the right direction, the Gelid Icy Vision would definitely fit your card and is a very good cooler for the 460.

The gainward edition you have is basically the same as the Palit non-reference make so the Icy vision would not fit your card.

Refer to page 1 for all coolers that fit the 1gb version of the non-reference section.

This card has been sitting in a closet for quite a while after I broke the fan (been running an MSI gt460 instead).

Finally got around to buying a Setsugen 2 and couldn't be more pleased. Running at stock clocks with FurMark 1.9.1 on max burn in settings, temp never got about 60c with fan inaudible. Much, much better than the stock Palit cooler.

Installation is a little futzy, but nothing too bad. I ended up taking the little pad off of the backplate because there's a chip right there and the screws wouldn't reach with the pad on.

Now I just need to find an SLI motherboard for my core 2 quad (any suggestions?)

Okay thanks. And just to double check (Because I'm super paranoid about buying the wrong thing), the coolers on the 1GB list should all fit my GTX460 Sonic Plat? And is the Coolmax 4000 the one you would recommend?

The best out of the bunch on the list would be the Thermalright Shaman, then it would be a toss-up between the Zerotherm Coolmax 4000 and the Deep Cool 4000.

Are you sure the Shaman fits the 1GB Sonic Platinum? Somewhere someone mentioned that the shaman does not fit the gainward gtx 460 gs glh, which is the same layout as the sonic platinum (including the double dvi housing).

This test here states pretty much the same: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling/906834-thermalright-shaman-8-heatpipe-vga-cooler.html

Considering that the other thermalright and zerotherm models are no longer available, that leaves us with a pretty small list of available coolers for the double dvi cards.

Personally, i tried the acccelero l2 pro, which is way too weak to cool the card (gainward gtx 460 gs glh) sufficiently, and the deepcool v 4000, which again, can't cool my card, games crash after a couple of minutes, due to high temperatures. I will now try the setsugen 2, if that doesnt work ... well, there is always watercooling, i guess ...

And there is a commenter here on youtube stating the same: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k9oFxkBDOQ[/ame]

I didn't hear the comment about the Shaman not fitting in the youtube video but the other link you gave clearly states that.

I've modified the first page to reflect the changes, thanks!

I guess the list just got smaller! redface.gif
