GTX 460 / 560 / 560 Ti aftermarket (air) cooler (non-reference) list - Page 45

One of the major projects I have to work on is polishing that copper heat-sink, anyone have clues on how I can do this without being too much of a hassle?

I was hoping to just remove it from my GPU and dip it in a small tub of sorts in a solution that will hopefully clean it out.

The problem is I'm not sure what solution to use???

Try some lemon juice 50/50 with water. Leave it in for oh..2-3 hours. No more than 5 I'd say. If you really want to you could use ammonia for the other part in the juice. But yea, just go to the store and pick up a liter of lemon juice and use that stuff. Works great on copper/brass without scrubbing.

Lemon juice is like oxyclean for metal...

+ rep @cakewalk

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be soaking the heat-sink in the solution you recommended!

Installed an Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II on my GTX 460 1GB a few days ago. Pretty darn easy (less than an hour not counting thermal glue curing time). My load temps with OCCT dropped from 79C to 64C with the fan on auto. Gaming it hasn't hit 60C yet (usually in the mid to high 50s). It runs so cool it hasn't ramped up from the default fan profile's 40% idle speed while gaming. Very happy with it.

@ Jeffredo

Which specific reference card is your GTX 460 1gb? It would be great if it was non-ref since this means I can add it to the list on page 1!

The problem is I'm not sure what solution to use???

White vinegar with a tiny pinch of salt will do the job. Put more salt to speed up the process.

Regardless of which method you use, make sure you clean it up as well as you can and try not to get it into any tiny crevices because the any residue will keep corroding even after it's dried.

Where was it confirmed that the Xigmatek Bifrost/Ultra U12-40659 Carbon X4 would not fit on Palit GTX 460 cards? Are 1GB and 768MB PCBs the same?

Sorry for the necropost.

Refer to post #62 of the link below:

http://www.overclock.net/t/827886/gtx-460-aftermarket-air-cooler-non-reference-list/60#post_10867323

Please note that this is for the Xigmatek Bitfrost VD1065 model, if this is the same as the Ultra U12-40659 then it won't fit.

I need people to help out and start giving suggestions or add to the list to this thread. Please PM me if there are any other coolers in the market that can be added to this list.

Please take note that the 560 / Ti series of the Palit / Gainward and Zotac (or any non-reference board partners) can also use these coolers.
