Would be great if the new Thermalright Shaman would fit..

Hey Deluxe,

Thanks for the update!

Since it's a universal cooler let's keep our fingers crossed that it will fit the non reference cards.

I'll send an email to Thermalright and enquire about hole spacing for the mounts.

According to this review the new Thermalright Shaman takes up 5 slots guys! Geez!!!

I'm hoping that's an exageration, but I think it's more of a 4 slot than a 5 slot, still this thing is huge! You could probably buy a scythe slim fan to reduce it to about 3.5 slots for more space.

Direct quote from the link above:

"The guys at Thermalright have tested their new baby, the Shaman VGA cooler, on an overclocked GeForce GTX 460 (GPU: 900MHz) with FurMark (they have used the version 1.8.2). The temperature does not exceed 60°C which is very nice… for a VGA cooler that takes 5 slots (bye bye to SLI…)."

Awesome temps though, 60*C at 900 clock and at full load in Furmark!

I just confirmed that it is indeed a 4 slot cooler and not a 5 slot:

This is taken from thermalrights own website (FAQ question 4).

Let's hope it fits the non-rereference boards though!

KEEP POSTED UNTIL EMAIL REPLY REGARDING HOLE SPACING FOR THE MOUNTS

Accelero S1 Rev. 2 on Palit GTX 460 Sonic(non referent) with cooler modification. I've cut the cooler aluminium plates with normal scissors for paper and bent the pipe so it can fit on the card. The cooper plate of the base is smaller than the chip metal cap, but it still covers the chip below.
The mod is ugly, but still it works perfect - overclock 900mhz on 1.1v. - 72degrees max. There is a 12cm Cooler Master fan(2000rpm) on the cooler.

Jesus! 4 slots!!
I reckon that company that makes those GPU coolers that are similar to the H50/H70's might start getting a bigger market share soon. SuperSized air coolers for GPU's just aint right.

neoset,

We have an old thread started by misloshs regarding the accelero S1 rev2. Good job with the mod by the way, scary looking though!

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/8029...o-s1-rev2.html

I'd add this but we're looking for after market coolers that fit without mods (on the non reference cards). That's the reason we removed a few on the first page because they had to be modded to fit.

Thanks though man!

I love it how so many of us on here are willing to fork out decent coin for components; then within minutes of getting it home have total disregard for it but hacking the <rap out of it!!
