Does anyone has a photo of the v4000 on gtx 460 (Palit)?
Will the heatsink cover all the processor? I mean, it seems a little smaller to cover all the GF104
post #94 of 676
MituS, from my finding when I fit a Scythe Musashi to mine, the heatsink doesn't necessarily have to cover the entire IHS, as the chip is quite a bit smaller that that is.
"I found the actual GF104 die size is only 24mm wide; so figured things “should” work out.

"

In my post in here #63 I mentioned pretty horrible temps, however I've done some changes to air flow in the case and temps are actually significantly better. However I'm waiting on a part to come at the moment, so waiting for that before I give a concise update on temp changes.

Thanks for the quick response.
I know that the chip is a bit smaller from the IHS. I just received my v4000, and i'll mount it monday when i'll return home. Photo and update on temps incomings in few days!
p.s. your pasted link to the forum is cutted!

I know this thread is for non reference coolers, but does anyone still have their Gainward GTX 460 1GB fan (and shroud if one unit) that they'd sell me? I've snapped a couple of blades off one of my 460's and would ideally like to replace it as noise isn't too much of an issue (wear headphones when gaming). I've rma'd it but it looks like it won't be replaced (no surprise). They said they'll send it to Gainward on my behalf, but I don't want to wait possibly weeks for the sake of a fan! I'm in the UK so if anyone's about who could help me out i'd be extremely grateful!!

I looked briefly for what a recommended replacement fan, or who makes the fans, but no dice on short notice, and the missus don't want me on here all night as it's the weekend, and well... I don't either, 'cos it's the weekend

That said, I found someone with a similar issue, did you say you snapped the blades, or did you say that they snapped? Apparently, the fans are a little poorly made, and if you've more time than I do to look for a second hand one, Palit and Gainward are the same company essentially, everything except the shroud is the same, so the fan will be the same, I think XpertVision may also have the same fan.

If I were you, I'd re-apply for the RMA and hope someone different see's the second RMA request, as a few people have had the fan blades snap:- http://forums.overclockersclub.com/i...owtopic=179074

Also, go straight through Gainward, and see what they say if the retailer you got it from is being slow about it, or if you did it via e-mail to your retailer, phone them and hope you get someone else, demanding they replace it (do they have 28-day cover or anything?) saying the fan blade snapped under gaming. If that fails, try Gainward yourself:- http://www.gainward.com/main/support_detail.php?id=9

You also have the option of a cheapish 3rd party cooler, as it uses G92 fitment AFAIK.

I just installed v4000 on my gtx 460. This is an image of MSI afterburner, while Folding@home with gpu client. 900/1800/1050@1.087 temp around 52°. Soon OCCT results and photo of my board and case. Kisses

Here's another I found for our non-reference cards:

Here's their home site:

http://www.pccooler.cn/en/proview.ph...53&pro_id=1534

Looking at it, it seems to be tall enough to clear everything on the board but we still need confirmation. I'll include this in the needs confirmation list on page 1.

If you feel like browsing that site link above there's another VGA cooler there that could probably fit, but I'm not including it since it doesn't cover the vrm's (HP4-1226) but if you're interested check it out.

EDIT: There's another one on their site that looks promising, it's the HP5-135, it has 5 pipes but comes with no fans.
