Hey guys, i need some help in getting my pc to overclock at 4.25 or more at least.

The spec as you can see below.

Currently i am running 3.4GHz@4.02GHz

CPU FSB 236MHz
Memory Speed 628MHz
Multiplier 17x

Mem Volt. 1.95v
CPU Volt. 1.425

CPU Temps i get around 60C in Load and BIOS gives a little higher on 64C.
Im using the Zalman 9500 cooler, if theres anything better please advise.

I cant get past 240*17, system becomes unstable with BSOD's during gameplay and windows.

SOunds to me like you need some better cooling. That would be my first step without a dought. Theres no need to run the ram faster then the CPU, there will be no performance gain that I have seen. Youve got some head room on your Vcore so you should be able to hit 4.2 pretty easy, but I wouldnt go any farther with 60c+ temps, Id actualy drop the overclock to get the temps down around 55c untill you can get a better cooling solution I.E. Big typhoon, or water.

Whats the best CPU cooler out there ?

I currently have the Zalman 9500 which was doing load times at 55C, maybe its time to clean up the dust now.

But what other cooling options are there, to bring the temps down.

Whats the best stuff in air cooling... no water !

The BT will only give a couple degrees cooler than the 9500. Why not go H2O?

As Adeoliver said, no point running the RAM faster than your FSB. Might as well lower it to the same as the FSB and tighten up the timings. Then increase the speed and loosen the timings as you OC more.

Im not quite sure what ratio its on now, but do you mean i should change it to 1:1 ratio. In this case would it be

CPU 236MHz
RAM 472

Yes, 1-1 with tighter timings will outperform loose timings and higher speeds. And the BT is a great cooler, Ive had it on my 820 dualy and was able to run 3.6ghz with a 100% load temp of 55C, also artic silver 5 thermal compound will help to decrease temps a few more degree's, IMO every degree counts.

Ok the dust i just cleaned manage to solve some problems.

The temps have gone down to idle @ 45, load @ 60

I am now overclocked @ 4.25GHz (250*17)

Memory ratio is on 3:4 @ 333MHz (I think i got you guys confused before, it was actually DDR2 667MHz, which is probably why you told me to set it lower)

Would this be the best ratio for me ?

I tried 1:1 ratio, but i got around 5800 points for memory bandwidth in SANDRA.
With 3:4 ratio, i get above 6100 points.

Any advise, let me know, thanks !
