new to overclocking, my newcastle

Thread Starter
i have a athlon64 3000+ newcastle
overclocked to 2.35ghz from 2.0ghz with default multiplier and in my bios theres only 2 options to higher cpuvoltage
+.025v and +.05v
its a epox 8NPA SLI Nforce4 board
when i play F.E.A.R. ,20 or less seconds into the game, my computer quits on me and restarts. i have tried it on default voltage, and both of the only options to higher the voltage.
heres a screenshot of cpu-z, at the +.025v setting
http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/4748/oc0qn.jpg

how would i make it more stable? or would i have to go back to a more stable 2.2

fill out you sysem specs cuz it will make it ezier to help you out. Do you have the ram on a divider, alla running at 166/33 instead of 166/333. And what is your ht multi at? If its stock lower it a click

auto is x5 so usually x4 until you get to fsb of 250. Then once you get to 250 go to x3. RAM divider usually will bein dram options and refer to something about the ratio of you fsb to your ram speed.

generally good for value ram. Value ram doesnt run any slower really than more expensive ram but it usually dont liek to run much faster than stock speeds. My crap ram hate to go over 210mhz om my board so i use a divider and cant notice the difference. Its just once thing we use to take one more possiblility out of the equation when overclocking.

newcastles are some of the worst overclocking athlon 64s. Take small steps when overclocking it. I also, like hednick said, slap on a ram divider to make sure it's not your ram becoming unstable. And since you asked about dividers, then....make sure you htt multi is lowered and cool n' quiet is disabled.
