6800GS to be phased out already???

Thread Starter
My mate was at this store in the city and the owner stated "The 6800GS is very soon to be phased out by the 7600". I find this to be total BS cause i just bought a 6800GS and by itself it plays all my games on max settings. Will it be phased out already? he also said production is halting, i wanted to go SLI but looks like there isn't time for me to save up for a second anymore...

Don't worry shark there will still be plenty of 6800gs's left in stockpiles to purchase. I mean you can still buy x850xt's and they are no longer in production. Plus them being phased out by newer tech means price drops.

Ya they may be phasing them out, but keep saving, youll be able to find another 6800gs on ebay or here in the future... and im sure there is still a few months of supplies left in warehouses after they stock getting new ones ya know? So i wouldnt worry about not being able to run sli with them.

Dude, the 7800 series is already phased out, your 6800 series is old news lol I really dont like how nVidia is killing off all of their cards but the 7 series BUT to be fair, the 7300 is cheap enough that honestly, if you can't afford that you don't need a PC graphics card update plain and simple. Instead of getting another 6800GS for SLI, save up a bit more and get a 7900GT which will whomp 2 6800GS in SLI anyways.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

edit: reaction more neutral now....5 posts were done while i was typing NOOOO haha...I dont wanna waste my money an a fricken expensive 7900 as i already can run all my games at max....with a second 6800GS ill have a 190% performance boost on top of that. Considering my age i cant afford a 7900

congrats on the 200th post

Don't worry if you want to go SLI later on, just check out ebay or amazon and I'll guarantee you they have lots of them at cheap prices.

The reason the 6800GS is being phased out is because Nvidia has simply released the 7600GT which is superior to it.. Im sure when the GS is taken off a 7600GT price cut will be comin.
