Where can i go from the 6600 gt(agp) ???

Thread Starter
Currently i have a 6600gt in my pc at school, i am contemplating if its worth me gettinga newer card in my school pc and then replace the 5200 in my home pc ?
From what i have read very briefly on sites, the 7800gs is the best possible agp card out there . If so, which brand would be the best ?
I was hoping to get some suggestions / advice on this from the good people of oc.net.

I agree that the 7800gs is a Very top of the line AGP. But IMO in agp, the X850XT PE is the best. What do you mean your computer at school? Is it your computer or the schools?

oh okay, here the school lets us use their pos comps.
But anyway, Yes , I would upgrade either to a 7800gs or the one of the x850 cards and flash it to an xt or xtpe. All assuming your gaming or something that requires a little more.

Do you overclock, or just stay stock. I just noticed you dont have an overclocking motherboard.

I have the 7800GS and it has been nothing but problems, you can see I RMA'd it, I will let you know if I get one that works, but a lot of people have had black screen crashes with the 7800GS. It would be a great upgrade from the 6600, but I don't know how practical it is. The x850xt(pe) would definitely be a good upgrade as well, but the 7800GS is a bit better overall, if you get one that works anyways. Either way you will want to upgrade your power supply if you are getting a more powerful card.

The 7800GS is better than the X850XTPE, and the 7800GS overclocks very high. Either card is good though, you cant lose either way.
