Yeah, I don't know, I think I'm going to just let it run and see what happens. When it completed 2%, the TPF dropped to 1h 19m 50s, which would have it finish about an hour early, which would give me plenty of time to get it uploaded (about an hour), so I think I'll just keep a close eye on it and move on it later if it doesn't look like its going to finish on time. If it does finish on time, it should net about 330k points!!!!

BTW, I love folding, its things like this that challenge me to learn (been doing a lot of reading on V2P, Virtual to Physical, conversion) and push the envelope of what both my computer and I can do!

Well I think I killed my GPU in the linux box. Discovered that I had hooked up the CPU waterblock wrong, so figured I could shutdown and swap tubes quickly and make a minimal mess. Well got them swapped but got some water on the GPU so I wiped it up and figured the system would be good to go. Well guess not, the card started artifacting like crazy, figure water got some place I couldn't see. Well pulled it and now running off the integrated graphics on the 2600k, will wait till this WU is done before I attempt anything again, if the card is dead any recommendations on a new GPU for folding. This is what I'm thinking right now. I just have to wait till I get paid again to pick it up. Should do much better than the GTS 450 that I had in here, unless the card turns out to be fine in the long run. Knew it was a bad idea to attempt to make an adjustment to the water loop like I did but owe well. Plus side temps under load dropped about 10 degree's. Amazing what happens when the water flows through the water block properly, I had thought something was wrong cause my temps were so high under load.

Sorry to hear about your GPU, sir, that really sucks. If you do have to replace it, the 550 ti is not a bad card for the money. Personally, I'm a big fan of the GTX 460, like this one. Not sure what the PPD differance is, but if it were me, I'd spend an extra $20.00 for the 460, but that's just me (you might want to look and see which would net the biggest PPD, if folding is what you're looking for). Hopefully, though, you're GPU isn't cooked and will work after it completely drys.

On another note, my TPF on the 6904 seems to keep dropping the longer it runs, down to 1h 18m 39s, so that is leaving me about 2.5 hours before deadline, so it looks like I should be good if I just let it go. Best part, right now PPD is showing as 62k!!!!

EDIT: Actually, Chuck, here is a LINK to a chart of PPDs for different GPUs. I can't look at it at work, but you might what to check it to see how the GTX 550 does. Hope this helps.

I'm seeing similar behavior on my clients doing bigadv as you WonderMutt, the first few frames are a bit slower than later on, right around 70% i normally see the fastest times. My variations aren't as large as yours though, all clients that are consistent enough is native.

Yeah, its weird, it looks like the longer it goes, the quicker the TPF gets. Right now, HMF is showing it as 1h 18m 29s, and it keeps getting lower (last fram was 1h 17m 55s), so I'm going to let it ride and see what happens.

Also, Chucko, I did some reading and actually found a thread I started a while back when I was looking for GPUs to fold. THIS thread might help you out, aparently I was looking at a GTX 550 Ti a while back (I had completely forgot about that!), and from what people told me then, a 550Ti will net about 7k-8k PPD whereas a 460 with a slight OC will net (at least mine are) 10k-12k PPD (mine are both running at 850MHz, stock is 700MHz), so for the differance in price, the 460 I liked above may be a better option for you and it is only $20.00 more than the one you linked. However, I'm still rooting for your current GPU to start working once it dries! thumb.gif

So am I! Will keep all options in mind either way, may throw a second card in there just to try and get the maximum PPD out of this rig. Been looking at aftermarket coolers for the GTS 450 if it is still good, it runs a little hot for a 24/7 folder.

If it helps, I would also recommend the 460. Mine is watercooled but folds 24/7 at 45-50 degC and nets 12k ppd with 875/1750/2000 with 1.062 v. Hope it helps.

Yeah, I have 2 GTX460s, one is an Asus and one Zotac and they both run a little hot (65C and 75C respectively), but I'm not too worried, I'm sure they'll be fine, that's still well within spec.

Yeah, I can't wait until I can build a WCed rig to run them in, that way I can see what they can do with proper cooling. mine are both set at 850/1700/2000 and they have been neting right at 11k - 11,500 PPD pretty steady. I can push them up to 925/1850/2000, but they are not folding stable. They are stable enough to hold up to an hour of Kombuster, but when I try to fold on them at that speed, they crash about 8 - 15% in, so I kept knocking them down until they were folding stable, which turned out to be 850/1700/2000. I have to say, for the price, you really can't beat the PPD and especially considering how easily they OC.

Also, ska, what waterblock are you using for your 460? I'm curious because I don't want to have to move up to a 570 when I WC, but I can't find a waterblock for the 460? Also, what brand is yours?
