so after recoding and doing everything i restart my machine and this is what I get... my machine is only seeing one cpu but is set for 8 and the core hack is set to 10.... wth...

1 cores detected
Fewer than 2 CPU's detected. This SMP version of the Folding@Home client is intended for machines with multiple CPUs. For this machine, we recommend using the single-processor version of FAH instead. Please see http://folding.stanford.edu for more details.

Folding@Home Client Shutdown.

They have the same power phase setup which is what matters for OC and running 24/7. The Pro basically adds two extra SATA ports, with an extra chip. The deluxe does have a beefier power phase (16 phase vs. 12 phase) but cost $80 more than the vanilla -V (270 vs. 190) over at MC. You might, might, get a few extra MHz OC, on that mobo but to me it doesn't seems worth the extra money. With quality boards with good power supply and decent heat sinks, it's probably more up to the chip what kind of OCing you'll get (with normal air/water cooling).
If you can find a non-Gen3, clearing of old stock or demo, it probably will save you a few pennies and the Gen3 isn't something that will be needed (even for GPU-folding). Make sure you do look at the -V version, there are LX/LE version too which has a stripped power phase quite significantly, hence no good for OC-24/7. The LX doesn't even have a heat sink for the VRM and the LE is much smaller than the plain -V.
I really like my board, it was super easy to get up and push the OC, not had any experience with any other SB boards though. And it seems like a popular choice, for instance both me and Ish (PPDP) fold with that board together with our 2500Ks, that way it may be the boring way out... But if you decide to get that be sure to stay away from the 0902 UEFI version, it will not let you boot at a higher multi than 47 IIRC.

Thanks for the advice, arvidab, I can't find a non gen3, so I'm just going to go with the P8Z68-V/GEN3 (HERE). I'll probably go get it tomorrow, but I won't get anything put together before 02/20, so it will be killing me to have all these parts around and not be able to build!! I just picked up a 2700k today that I am going to throw in my SigRig and then put the 2500k in the Asus MB when I get around to putting everything together. Oh, I can't wait, I'm so excited!!!

I had this same problem when I was setting up my HPCloud servers. I just deleted everything (folding client, corehack, etc) and started from scratch and that fixed it. It can be a pain, but it might be necessary. Otherwise, you can try posting your code (for your corehack) and we can see if there is something wrong with it...Outside of that, I can't be much help, sorry, sir. Hope you get it working. Good luck.

So I had to completely delete my linux machine and start over... couldn't get it to read more that one cpu for some reason all of a sudden.... hopefully a fresh start will get me up and running again.... damn linux noobs anyways rolleyes.gif

EDIT: It is something to do with the corefix... not sure what but everytime I try to use it it gives me the only 1cpu detected msg... dont use the corefix (dont really need it anyway) and it runs just fine.... I guess if I dont need it being the i7-2 folder I'm not going to worry about it... so i'm up and running again... sorry for the delay....

EDIT2: figured it out... not sure what the diff is in the corefix but i copied a diff one and used it instead and it works just fine... I looked at both of them and they are the same.... so confused... but hey its working now biggrin.gif

The IP of your rig?

From Win, in cmd:
Code:
ping [HOSTNAME]

From Linux (I'm using Ubuntu, but should work for others too) in the Termnial:
Code:
ping [HOSTNAME].local

Or just type in ifconfig in the terminal of the machine you're trying to find the IP for.

He's our second i7 folder, its against the rules for him to fold hugeadv (as I understand it anyway).

Also, I picked up my MB and case today. I picked up both a 2600k and a 2700k (long story), not sure which to keep, 2600k was $120 cheaper, what do you all think? Which one should I take back?

Also, all I need is an SSD and time and I'll have my 2500k in a dedicated folding box!! Bad part is, the time won't come until 02/20 which is the next time I'm off work that my wife is not. It can't get here soon enough, all these parts and no time to build a system...killing me!

Keep the 2600K and use that $120 for some good cooling thumb.gif The 2700K might OC a bit better but not enough to be worth the money.... who knows maybe your 2600K will be golden and hit 5Ghz on 1.2v biggrin.gif
