well when most people suggest going 7/16 tubing with 8/16 barbs for a nice snug fit, i dont see how going in the opposite directoin to 6/16 barbs on 8/16 tubing could be negligible, being 3/16 different. regardless i'll juse use some compression fitting i have and i'll post some pics 2nite smile.gif

Can't wait to see the pics!!

As for your linux set up, honestly, its not that hard. I have never used linux before I started folding (still don't completly understand it), but by following Digi's guide, it was a breeze (I like that his has pics for each step). What you can do is follow the guide exactly, then open your "Startup Programs" from the Personalize menu in Ubuntu and just uncheck Langouste and Corefix. This is a little extra work, but it keeps you from having to deviate from the guide and chance messing something up (this is what I have always done anyway).

Langouste basically allows the rig to download a new WU while it is uploading the completed WU. This is great if you have a REALLY slow internet connection, but it can have some issues. What I would see is that it would start uploading the completed WU, but when it finished downloading the new WU it would start that, wait until about 5% was complete and then restart the upload of the completed WU. The problem is, you lose bonus points during that 5+ hours Langouste is waiting around. I know not everyone saw this issue, but I saw it twice and decided to just remove it from the startup list.

yea, seems 10.10 is a lot more user friendly for newbs, i coudlnt even figure out how to get into my preferences or add applets to the status bar in 11.10 lol. Hopefully I can knock my TPF from ~7 min to ~5 by the end of the night smile.gif

Yeah, once you get all set up in Ubuntu, you should be able to start folding bigadv WUs (6901 being the most common) and you'll see TPFs around 20-30 minutes (IIRC), but will net you about 30k-45k PPD (at least this is what I saw on my 2500k so yours should be higher). For us to be really competitive, we'll need you to be set up to get those, which is what Digi's guide will do (like I said, minus the Corefix which sets you up to get hugeadv WUs). If you need any help with the set up, feel free to PM me, I'm pretty good with it now.

That works. I have some stuff to take care of for the wife, but I should be on for a little bit tonight. I'm (hopefully) going to start working on OCing my 2700k before I set up my Ubuntu VM on it to start folding bigadv. I'm not setting it up to run hugeadv for now as I built this computer so that I would have one to use (which I really can't if its folding hugeadv. With bigadv, I may lose some bonus points, but at least I can shut down the folding to do other things).

Good luck with the Ubuntu. I found Digi's guide to be very easy and very well put together. I had minimal problems with it. The only issues I ran into was with my virtual machine. A native install should be super easy.

I also had never used linux before this either.... It was pretty easy... I agree with not using the langouste.... but use the corefix... just set it to 10 instead of 12... the bigadv WU's tend to like higher core counts.... but setting to 10 will not allow the hugeadv WU's as they require at least 12(maybe even 16 now?) I found that to be useful...thumb.gif

Good call on the Corefix setting to 10, I didn't even think of that! thumb.gif

Also, some good news to start us into March (a day early), I finished a 6903 yesterday for about 235k points and got a 6904 which looks like it will finish on time for about 340k points!!! It should finish on the morning on March 5th which should give us a nice bump for the month!! I'm so excited that the rig can finally finish a 6904 under deadline!!! wheee.gif

so use the corefix to 10, is that allowed of the i7-2 folder? not rlly up to snuf on this.

And I didnt get around to installing 10.10 ,i started putting my loop together at 10pm and didnt finishi until 2pm lol. After a few quick strress tests, i was up and folding at 4.8ghz @1.4v around 58-60c. Installed the samsung ram but was too tired to fiddle with timings/clock.

I'll square it all away tonight and be fully prepared for march 1st smile.gif

edit: i was thinking of just leaving the side panel off and directing a high speed stand up fan right at the mobo since no1 rlly uses the room my rig is in. anyone else do this or something similar? not sure what kind of temps i'll be seeing if i try 5.0ghz. Im thinking anywhere between 1.48-1.52v will be needed, if not more
