Well, I just got a failed 70 percent completed 6903. It left me with a message that said: "Can't restore state." and then started working on a new one. I'm gonna check my overclocks for stability, then continue working. Sorry sad-smiley-002.gif

How can you tell if an OC is truly stable? My has been folding for 12 days straight now without a BSOD, and I have no idea when the next one will come.

Ok now I'm getting worried that my 2600k may be dead or damaged. I'm folding a 8101 right now and only getting around 5k PPD. This is well below what this rig normally does.

I dropped the clocks to what I posted earlier and ran mprime for hours with no issue. Trying to think of another way to benchmark this thing with out loading windows.

Guess I'll have to keep troubleshooting.

Well that kind of sucks, any word on the reason yet? And I know I'm not really an expert at this yet but isn't your 2600k able to produce much more ppd that yours currently is? I figured because elchucko and Wonder are doing more with the same type of hardware, that yours would be producing similar numbers right? I was just curious.

I hope you get everything figured out man, dead or damaged hardware is never a good thing. Just recently (last 48 hours or so) I have been getting some really low ppd from 2 workloads in particular (7622, 8009). The 7622 is only worth 5187 points and generates a ppd of just 12178, that's a big difference form the 8019s that give me 5757 points and a ppd of 16861. And the 8009s are worth the same amount of points as other similar work-units (8006s, 8007s, 8010s) but are giving me about 150 ppd less, weird. The last couple of projects I have received have been like the days before this weird spell. Hopefully things are back to normal for me at least for now and I really hope you get your rig figured out. I don't know how you could test your stability outside of the os, its not really my area of expertease, I really wish I could help more chucko, best of luck.

If you guys have been keeping a close eye on the leaderboards you have probably noticed that I am no longer holding first in my cat (wildcard). CTRLurself of Just Be Cause, has taken the lead by a lot (currently about a 40000 point lead)...I don't think I will ever catch up. His 9800gx2 looks like its more than doubled its ppd compared to what it was doing at the begin of this months TC. I am assuming that he is folding more than the 16k ppd ceiling given to this category. Not sure what to make of it really.

Good luck all, hope we can get all this stuff sorted out! And btw, nice new hardware Mr. Mutt, hope you have/had a good trip. I can't wait to see your three monsters when your all done. Also to u3b3rg33k, how long have you gone (folding) without a BSOD or crash of some sort, all-time? I think my personal record so far is 4 days (bc I like to restart the comp every now and then). thumb.gifthumbsupsmiley.png

My dedicated TC rig (my old gaming/folding rig) has been up for 25 days straight with no issues. I consider that rig to be 100% stable. I don't remember why it's only 25 days, but I think I rebooted it for something or there was a power blip.

Are you talking about that?

Yes I am, it does seem like a lot of ppd compared to other members hardware in this category right? He easily more than doubled every other members best day so far with his June 8th results. I know I'm still green to all of this but I don't think that's really a fair fight. That's just my opinion tho.

Nice! I think I will let her go for a full week this time. I just don't like to keep the rig up for more than a few days at a time without a restart.

I think my RAM might not be stable, and possibly my CPU as well. I just updated the bios on the motherboard, and have been going through trying to find the clocks again. It's getting there!

Yeah tell me about it, are his results typical? Has their been folders in the past that far exceed a categories max overall ppd? I was just wondering because I thought that the wildcard slot (previously know as cat2) was for "any hardware that could fold BETWEEN 10k - 16k PPD". Not sure I am understanding the rules then, if this isn't the case... Can someone please clarify this for me?

Good to hear _zero. My small (older) folding comp kept on crashing after about 25% into any WU. Its a test bench I have setup in my basement. I use her for SMP folding. Its a nice little bench (Windows XP & 7 dual boot), socket 775 Core 2 Duo E8400, on a Gigabyte GA-EP45t-USB3p mainboard, equipped with the Nvidia EVGA GTX260 core 216 (have folded on her in the past), a 500gig WD Green SATA2 drive, and 8gigs of some Mushkin Blacklines (ddr3 1600MHz), she is powered by a 600w Seasonic. I was getting crashes all of the time, until I replaced my RAM that is (was using a Kingston 8gig kit). Seems like that did the trick...I guess the Kingtons couldn't handle it, good ole Mushkin to the rescue! Now she can complete a regular SMP WU in about 4-5 hours or so. I haven't tested the GPU in forever tho. Moral of the story...don't skimp on your ram. thumb.gif

~edit~ We just broke a cool one million points as a team guys! (8th place)
