Currently at 900MHz and running two threads for maximum utilization (why can't stanford fix this???). - I was getting core shutdown errors occasionally @ 910. I think I'll need more voltage to go any faster. maybe time for 1.2v...

YOU'RE ONLY RUNNING 1.2V!?!? Dood, bump it up to 1.3 and take it to 1000... thumb.gif They can handle it. I ran both my 6870 and 6970 @ 1.3V 24/7. You are just going to have to bump your fan speed to keep the tamps down.

EDIT::

Cant wait to see the pics of your rig Wonder (what are you using for your OS drive), and I would go ahead and give their advice at try u3b3rg33k, I hear those cards can run at 1000MHz no problem (with enough voltage)!

As for my news, my rig crashed at around 530am this morning and I didn't realize it until noon. I was able to recover my WU and start again where I left off. I blame my OC, I bumped it up an extra 10MHz from 880 core (left men at 2000x2), she just couldn't sustain this frequency while f@h. So sorry about that guys, I should have been paying closer attention. I will keep her at 880 core from now on to avoid any unwanted hiccups. As a result, blazed_1 of The Misfits and myself are now neck and neck. I will most likely remain in second from this point on, it's hard to compete with an OCed Q9550 that's producing an average of almost 20,000 PPD. Which btw, I guess I'm still not understanding the rules fully then (Wildcard = 10k-16k PPD right?). Is it ok then to score more than that? Are the rules for category point classification based on the hardware's stock clock projected PPD, not taking in account for an OC?

Oh and Wonder, thanks for starting the thread regarding HFM affecting PPD and performance, I appreciate it. Glad to see that it doesn't, now all I have to do is get around to setting it up. If I need help I wont hesitate to ask the experts (ie; you guys).wink.gif

Good luck team! (how are things going _zero???)

Sorry to hear about the crash there Vidia-King. Don't give up though, the race isn't over till it's over!

And yeah, I do have a nice setup for my Q9550, not quite 20k PPD though, more like 16.5 - 17.5k.

I did talk with zodac about it recently and he said it was allowed only because that's what cat2 (now wildcard) was originally made for.

Well, I should have the rig up and running tomorrow on a hugeadv unit. it BSODd this morning with a stop code of 0x50, meaning I needed to bump my VCCSA/IO voltage a little. I also got my AP-15s today, and some more fittings, and have spent the day installing those, now overnight leak testing and bleeding, and it should be all set to go in the morning! Hopefully I put the CPU block back together, and put the right amount of thermal paste on for once. Seems like it's always too much or too little paste, I can never get that bow-looking print when I pull the block and CPU apart mad.gif but hey, I guess we'll see how the temps are tomorrow morning!

Tanks man, and yeah its still on like Donkey Kong my friend. But that's just it tho, those older rules were designed for cat2 then right? That slot is gone, and it's known as wildcard now. So to me it doesn't seem fair to just "grandfather" a TC member's hardware in just because that's what the old cat2 slot was designed for...imo at least. And I was looking at this...463...when I made the nearly 20,000 PPD statement, but your right, its more like 17.5k (opps, must have fudged my math up redface.gif), which is still higher than 16k PPD. Sorry man, I didn't know that you and zodac had pre arranged something, my apologies.

Sounds like fun man, I'm jealous!!! Thankfully all is going well tho _zero, I prey to the folding gods all will be well for you in the morning and you can start crunching again, best wishes. I'm sure you will get the paste application down eventually, it's definitely an art, I'm always second guessing myself that's for sure.

From what I understand cat2 isn't gone, just renamed, added more hardware and removed the nvidia 2xx gpu's. Honestly I don't even have the fastest CPU allowed in wildcard, quad core i5's (non 2500k) is where it's at if you can get a nice OC. For example Kevdog in div 2 is already at almost 232k with his i5-760.

Either way I will hopefully be done with wildcard at the end of the month. I've just been temping until Hacksword returns. Next month I step up from 2500k and bring bring the fight to i7-2. wheee.gif

Another thing I just remembered, you can't really trust PPD going by HFM. If you do the math 16k PPD over 30 days = 480k. Seeing as we're 15 days in and I'm not even at 200k I'm actually doing less.
