First, I want to say, nice job, Chuck, I see the 6903 dropped las night (this morning)!!! And he has another one in the mix!!

As for my news, my rig crashed at around 530am this morning and I didn't realize it until noon. I was able to recover my WU and start again where I left off. I blame my OC, I bumped it up an extra 10MHz from 880 core (left men at 2000x2), she just couldn't sustain this frequency while f@h. So sorry about that guys, I should have been paying closer attention. I will keep her at 880 core from now on to avoid any unwanted hiccups. As a result, blazed_1 of The Misfits and myself are now neck and neck. I will most likely remain in second from this point on, it's hard to compete with an OCed Q9550 that's producing an average of almost 20,000 PPD. Which btw, I guess I'm still not understanding the rules fully then (Wildcard = 10k-16k PPD right?). Is it ok then to score more than that? Are the rules for category point classification based on the hardware's stock clock projected PPD, not taking in account for an OC?
Oh and Wonder, thanks for starting the thread regarding HFM affecting PPD and performance, I appreciate it. Glad to see that it doesn't, now all I have to do is get around to setting it up. If I need help I wont hesitate to ask the experts (ie; you guys).wink.gif
Good luck team! (how are things going _zero???)

I did the math on it, and if you look at the days that blazed has folded this month (he didn't fold the first 3 days), he is averaging about 16,800 PPD. The Wildcard slot is 10k - 16k PPD +-1K, so he is within the rules. Also, looks like you are still in contention for 1st (you're their right now), so it looks like you'll probably be where I am, bouncing in and out of 1st (rather than holding a strong lead). Anyway it goes, you're doing an awesome job, so just keep up the great work and you'll be fine.

Also, about the OC, I think it looks like 880 is probably your top, and coming from a somewhat seasoned folder, my best advice is now that you've found your top, leave it, don't play with it. One thing I learned early on is that it is better to have a stable OC, even if it is not as high as you'd like, and let the maching crunch like made, than to deal with lost time (and lost WUs). This is how I've managed to stay at the top of my Cat even though I'm running a lower OC than others (I'm at 4.78GHz and there are people running 5.1, but I'm still competitive because my OC is rock solid).

Also, as for my 3570k build, right now it has an old 200GB WD drive as the only drive. I'm really just trying to get it up and folding for now, then I'll continue working on it. I'm trying to save up the money for a new case, an OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-120G 120GB and 3 Seagate Barracuda EP 3TB 7,200RPM SATA 6.0Gbps HDDs. The build will be a server (once I get it all done) to back up my other rigs and store all my media.

Sorry to hear about the BSOD, but it sounds like you're close!! Can't wait to see what it can do!!

Either way I will hopefully be done with wildcard at the end of the month. I've just been temping until Hacksword returns. Next month I step up from 2500k and bring bring the fight to i7-2. wheee.gif

Oh I have been meaning to ask anyone who cares to answer, how do the divisions get divided up (which teams go where)? It seems for the most part (on the average) division one tends to be a little more high scoring in the points department than division two.

His numbers as of this morning do reflect 16.8, so I guess all is well. Its hard being the new guy, this is all kind of overwhelming at first. I'm still trying to make sense of it all. And yeah I'm still in it, I'm just one of those guys who expect the worse (defensive mechignism so to not get my hopes up just to be let down). I will keep my OC stable and strong at 880MHz core, I am glad I found my folding OC climax tho...Can't wait to see some pics when your all set up Wonder! Its sounds like an epic build-a-thon is going to be taking place at the Mutt Manor soon that's for sure. Good luck with the future severe build also, I have around 4.5 TB of space for my backup and storage needs (3.5 of it is on my home network), it definitely comes in handy all of the time! You can never have to many GBs, or TBs nowadays.

Div 1 is comprised of the top 10 teams. In order to move from Div 2 into Div 1, a team actually has to win Div 2 two months in a row (at lest this was the rule, I don't think it has changed). Then the team in last place in Div 1 moves down to Div 2. When I joined the team, Full Auto was in Div 2, and it took us (from when I joined the team) about 6 months to make it back into Div 1. Anyhow, yes, Div 1 should produce more points, as it is layed out that the highest producing teams are in Div 1.

That makes two of us! Now let's see what that beast can do!

Well, I have 4TB + 120GB SSD in my i7 rig right now (though 2 TB is used as backup at the moment), but I want a server just to make everything more convient. Also, my wife has nearly a TB of photos (she has a very small photography business) that is backed up now, but I think the server would add a little bit of added security (she'll keep her backup, then also have another backup on the server).

The project is going to be a bit insane. When I find some time I'm going to try to layout everything I have on paper and figure out what is going where. My end goal is to have a dedicated folder, a server and a daily use rig. How I'm going to configure all that is the question. Anyway, if I get a chance, I'll post everything up here and have you guys help me decide.

Alright, back to work!

Quick EDIT:

And don't worry, it took me a couple of months to figure everything out (heck, I'm still kinda figuring it all out!), so you'll get the hang of it. I just don't want you to get disheartened, it's meant to be for fun (and to help the cause). So enjoy the compitition and if you ever have any worries, post up here or PM me and we'll get you sorted out!

And BTW, you don't need to outscore 10th place; that position definitely goes to the winner of D2. tongue.gif

So all you have to do is win Div 2 and you move up to Div 1? Or do you still have to win 2 months in a row?

EDIT: Actually, I'm going to pose this question in the TC thread and get a direct answer (hopefully) from the powers that be.

Team,

Can everyone take a look at THIS THREAD (Mandatory HFM Discussion) and vote.

I'd like to hear your opinions on the subject as well, so either post up here or PM me if you have any concerns.

My opinion:

I think it should be mandatory, for a few reasons...First off, with the i7 cat's, since the WUs can take up to 5 days to complete, it helps, as a captain at least, to be able to see what the team is doing. Also, I feel it would help limit any cheating in the TC (not that I've seen any, but one more preventative measure can't hurt). And lastly, it would help the team captains know when someone is having issues, even if that person forgets to or doesn't post about it. We run into a lot of hardware issues (par for the course in a compitition like this) and it helps me to know what is going on and when. I know the other team captains feel the same.

Also, so you know, I haven't voted yet, I want to hear what you all think. I don't want to cast my vote in a way that would be against the team's wishes. So please let me know what you tink within the next couple of days.

Last thought...I'd like to look at setting up a team HFM using Dropbox. I'll host it, all you would each have to do is setup and run the Dropbox client, sharing only your F@H folder. You can set dropbox to only update 1 folder (that way it isn't updating on your machine when everyone else's systems are updating) and from my personal experiance, it has almost no impact on PPD when set up this way. This way, we can have 1 place to see what everyone on the team is doing. This might not work so smooth (as I know we are almost, if not, all running multiple pieces of hardware), but it was a thought. I might also look into trying to build a website to do something similar, but that involves me finding time, which right now is at a premium.

Anyway, take a look and give us (or just me) your thoughts. Thanks, team!

EDIT:

Kubed's i7 is folding again!!! Nice to see sir! Pretty good TPF as well, can't wait to see how it fairs for the rest of the month! thumb.gif

Yay! it's folding for now, let's hope it doesn't crash at 70% again like the last 6903 did LOL. I think I've gotten it pretty much stable though. My only issue with this is that this is a 2600K running at 4.8GHz, with 1866 RAM. I had been expecting what I had been seeing before, 49 minute TPF, but this virtual machine and Kraken seems to have raised that TPF by 4-5 minutes. Yes, I'm GPU folding, which more than accounts for the PPD difference, but this GPU folding isn't for the team...yet.

I received the 2700k and ordered some Maingear T1000 TIM. I'm going to leave the TC rig going until close to the end of the month. Once I know I've posted max points for the month I'll take the rig down and begin the rebuild. I don't think it will take me any longer than about two days to get the rig going again. I've got a pretty good handle on OCin Sandy's from my 2600k and know this MB pretty well.

I'm hoping that once I get the 2700k locked in and going I can dominate the i7 CAT.

Wonder:

I'll PM you when I do this so that the TC Leaderboard and everything can get updated with the correct information.

Well, I know with my 2700k, the GPU folding makes about a 2-3 minute difference on the TPF. The kraken has really had little to no effect on the 2700k. On my 2500k, it did take about 10 seconds off my TPF on a 6098 WU, so its picked me up a few more PPD, but not much. I just don't think it works well with the VMs. Anyhow, glad to see everything is working, keep up the great work!

That sounds like a plan, Chuck! Can't wait to see what the 2700k can do. I know mine has done pretty well, running at 5.0GHz. Anyway, just let me know when you make the change over and I'll get everything updated. Just make sure you use the same passkey you are using now, that way everything just rolls over nicely.

Anyway, gotta run, have a good one, all.

Only change will be the CPU so nothing will change on the software side. I just have to OC and verify.

Pushed my GTX 470 to 900 Mhz Core, 1900 Mhz Mem. I don't know how much further I can push these but looking like I still have some headroom considering that my temps are currently @ 54°c.
