I have no problem setting up an HFM (regardless if its mandatory or not), if I get some time I'll start messing around with it tomorrow. And thanks for the clarification on the TC divisions guys. Is it true that the TC is looking into creating a third division? I think its a great idea, I got a PM from BGW outlining this idea (as I'm sure all TC folders did). As far as our team goes Wonder, should I be looking for someone to fill the nVidia cat that elchucko is temping in right now?

And to the team...I did get Asininity's (member who offered me team logo prints or something similar) approval on a team logo cutout. Not sure when this will actually be happening (sometime soon I hope) but I am definitely excited about it. Hopefully I can get a few different sizes made, so one can go on the rig as a little badge or something, I will keep you guys posted.

For my news, well I'm second again in the wildcard standings (only by a little), maybe I can still pull of a first place victory somehow...I will push on! My 460 has actually been hitting around 60C the last couple of days (warm for my girl while folding) on the count of us having 2 straight 30C (85F) degree days. Its not often I get her this hot anymore, gotta love the summer time! rolleyes.gif

My only issue with this is that this is a 2600K running at 4.8GHz, with 1866 RAM. I had been expecting what I had been seeing before, 49 minute TPF, but this virtual machine and Kraken seems to have raised that TPF by 4-5 minutes. Yes, I'm GPU folding, which more than accounts for the PPD difference, but this GPU folding isn't for the team...yet.

Very good news!!! I have faith _zero!

I've got a pretty good handle on OCin Sandy's from my 2600k and know this MB pretty well.
I'm hoping that once I get the 2700k locked in and going I can dominate the i7 CAT.
Wonder:
I'll PM you when I do this so that the TC Leaderboard and everything can get updated with the correct information.

Also good news! Bigger gun = more bullet holes in our competition...gunner.gif

HEY GUYS, big news for all the CPU folders. There are these new units that the v7 clients are handing out that are absolutely dominating in PPD. My 8 core 2.5GHZ xeon rig that usually gets 17K PPD is getting 60K PPD with these units, and my AMD 640 that usually gets 3K PPD is now getting 23! You might want to check it out, if you want a competitive edge. I can't even imagine how a 2700K at 5+ GHz is gonna do with these things, but it's gonna be amazing.

Anyways, the work unit number is 8046, and you can find my thread about it here. I was getting a 1:03 TPF from my crappy quad-core AMD, and 0:33 from a crappy 8 core machine, so I can't imagine the TPF from a well-OC'd i7

It should be interesting to see how long these are gonna stay around, but if they do, Stanford might need to completely restructure its entire point system, considering the HUGE boost in PPD output. I don't know. What do you guys think of these? Should we switch from hugeadv to try picking up a few of these to see if its performance is better than with hugeadv, if they stay around for a while??

Okay, sorry, thought I would just show you guys this insanity biggrin.gif

EDIT: Here's a screenie that some guy posted.

HOLY CRAP, 120K PPD. that's 3930K level.[/Spoiler]

Couple of things...First off, I got the 3570k rig together, its running right now at stock clocks (well at 3.6GHz, which is what the Sabertooth MB thinks is stock) and dropped one of my GTX460s in it, so it is folding away, which leads to my second point...

I set up three of my rigs (2700k, 3570k and my old P4 3.0GHz) up with v7 to try to get some of these 8046 WUs. So far, all I have gotten is crap! My 2700k's PPD dropped from 45k - 50k PPD down to 15k. So I've set my 2700k back to folding bigadv and I'll let the v7 continue on the other two through the FaT, but after that, I'll probably change things up. The SMP PPD in v7 seems horible and inconsistant.

Anyway, as for the 3570k, I have the stock cooler on it and at 3.6GHz it is running at 83C on the hottest core, so I'm not going to OC it now. I picked up a Hyper 212 Evo which I'll thow on it sometime, but I have to get a new case first (the crappy Apreva case won't hold a Hyper 212 with the side panel on). Anyway, I'l try to get pics tonight. The only cool thing about this case is the huge side panel window. I put some blue cold cathodes I had laying around in it, so it looks pretty sweet. The case is terrible, though. One intake, one exhaust and a side panel fan (that I have as exhaust right now), so the cooling is crap. I'm saving up right now for an NZXT Switch 810. Once I can get that, I'll put my 2700k in that (since it is WCed) and put the 3570k in my Corsair 500R.

Anyway, good luck to all in the FaT!!

Team,

Just wanted to give you all a heads up...with the new TC rules, we are probably going to be dropping down into Div2 next month (unless we can put some SERIOUS points up between now and the end of the month). With the new rule, the 1st place team in Div2 moves to Div1 for the next month and the 2nd place team can move to Div1 if they outscore the 9th place team in Div1, which right now, Infinity is killing us (they are ahead of us by 608,959 pts as of now)!

I just wanted you all to know so there wouldn't be any surprises (and to try to push us to keep this from happening). Now we do have a chance of overtaking Explosm for 8th place (and letting them worry about this), but it is going to take some work. The good news is, if we do drop to Div2, it is easier as now the winner of Div2 moves to Div1 every month, a team no longer has to win 2 months in a row. I really like this change, as I think it will keep things more interesting.

So just to check in with our big guns, Chuck and kubed, how are things going with the i7s right now?

Anyhow, all things considered, I think we're doing well, we just need to keep it up and really make a push for the rest of the month.

Have a good one, team!

Well it looks like I am going to be passing Full Auto's current Wildcard record holder soon, Shneakypete with 255,496 points. I know the cat has been changed a bit, so essentially anyone who folded in this cat this month would have broken the record, but I'm still very pleased anyways. thumb.gif

I have been getting some awesome WUs the last few days. Stamford has dubbed them as the 8020s. All I have to say is keep em coming. They are worth 5,757 points, and generate a PPD of 16,952 (sweet). Maybe with a little bit of luck I can still catch up to _blazed1 now.

Anyways, has anybody confirmed the 3rd division rumor? And should I be looking for someone to fill our nvidia cat next month? Also, I didn't have time to setup my HFM yet, hopefully tonight I'll find some.

To Wonder, the NZXT Switch 810 is a great case all around, I've had my eye on them for a while now. I built a pc about a 2 years ago using the NZXT Gamma chassis, for the price ($40) it was the best value at the time, it ended up being a great case for the build and gave me the impression that NZXT was company to watch out for in years to come (and look what happened, they blew up, everyone seems to have NZXT fever now)!!!

Modern, well built, easy to use, roomy, good looks imo, nice features, great case all around!

I think its great that they are changing the rules to make things a little more competitive. Hopefully we don't get bumped, Explosm is only 140,000 points away, I think we can do it!

About the Wildcard record, very nice to see!!

Also, about the Div3, Axi and BWG are working on getting it together (a lot of work from the stats side). As for the nVidia slot, I'm actually going to hold that for kubed, he is slotting his GTX680 in there next month, then we'll see which spot to put him in permanently (i7-2 or nVidia). So I don't want to do anything just yet.

Lastly, now that I have the 3570k together, there is a chance I might make my 2700k a dedicated folder, so if kubed decides to move to the nVidia slot, I might move up to the i7 slot. I'm going to wait and see what we do. If he does move, I'm going to see what is easier to get, Cat-3 or an i7-2 slot, then I'll take whichever. There's a lot still up in the air, and nothing locked down, but the basic point is that, no, we don't want to fill the nVidia slot just yet.

I 2nd the statement about NZXT. I never gave them 1 thought till I was convinced to get a Beta Evo Classic case. Oh my... the quality is ridiculous for the cheap price. Certainly made me look into them each time I'm thinking of buying a case or shopping for a friend.
