Because of this, I lost my lead in Cat3 and don't know if I'll be able to make up the difference. For some reason, my PPD for ALL of my clients has dropped pretty significantly (I'm not sure what's up with that).

My 2500k (Cat3 rig) dropped from 29K PPD down to 20k PPD, my GTX460 (Wildcard rig) dropped from 16k PPD down to 12k PPD, my 570 has dropped from 23k PPD down to 16k PPD. The only one that seems to be holding steady is my 2700k, which is currently crunching a 6903. I don't know what is going on with my clients, but it really has me agravated.

Anyway, I just wanted to keep you guys in the loop of what is going on with my rigs.

Muahaha, my planned worked!
No, but that sucks, wondered what happen to your rig. According to your live HFM it's sitting there waiting to connect (if it's up to date).

That's the plan elCapitan! Here's hopping that after I've folded standard SMP for awhile this never becomes an issue again.

I don't know if it's been suggested, but I'd get a fresh passkey so you will know that the passkey is good.

OK, so once again, my 2700k rig locked up, which for some reason lockes up my router as well, so I haven't had an internet connection at the house since 8:45 this morning, so again, no WUs uploaded. sozo.gif

Do any of you guys know anything about networking? I'm trying to figure out why if my 2700k rig (which is one of 2 systems connected to my router via ethernet cable, the rest are wireless) locks up, my home network goes down. This is really driving me crazy! Also, this only happens when my computer freezes (which I've traced down to a dying video card, my GTX460 in this rig is going bad), but doesn't happen if the computer BSODs (which it hasn't done very often).

Does your computer just connect to the network via DHCP or has it been configured to have a static IP? I don't really know if that would make a difference, but maybe it's something. You could also try and throw a wireless adapter on there and use that as the connection instead of the wired connection, I don't know.

I would unhook the 2700k rig and let the network go for around 24 hours and see if the network drops. How warm is the room the router is in? How old is the router? It the router stays up then I would hook up the computer.

Your computer should have no impact on your network being up. I would think that the router is getting too warm or something else is happening around the same time leading you to the computer being the culprit. You can also take another computer and run
Code:
ping ###.###.###.### -t
to get a continuous ping at the router and match the time the computer crashed to when the network went down.

If you ping from a linux box you will get both a continuous ping and a solid time hack every time it pings the target. Might give you a better idea of when the system goes down if you pinged both the router and the trouble computer so see if the times match.

I've actually also had a computer crash my network only when its desktop froze, and not when it encountered a BSOD. I just remembered I had that problem, it was about 6 months ago when I was helping a friend overclock his computer. Power off the system and the network came back up.

All of my rigs are configured with static IPs. I had a problem a couple years ago with constantly having conflicting IP addresses (usually between one of my Windows rigs and either my iPad or one of our iPhones), so I set all the computers in the house up with static IPs outside of the range that is used for the DHCP so that I no longer have any issues. Also, I had the rig connected wirelessly before, but my upload/download speeds were much slower than having it wired to the router, so 6903/6904 WUs were taking forever to down/upload. I know the wireless card was a new card of current spec (I don't remember what the specs are, but I know it was the fastest I could get) and it was still quite a bit slower than having a wired connection, so I'm wanting to avoid this at all costs.

No, it is definately related to the computer. The router is only about 3 months old, it is in my basement (with my rigs) and the temp is about 70 - 75F and it is has good air flow. When this happens, I shut down the computer and the networks comes right back up. I've not had any issues with this router outside of it locking up each time my computer freezes.

Yep, this is exactly it. Computer locks up, network locks up, its crazy. I would love to know what causes this, but as soon as the computer is shut off, the network comes right back up.

Anyway, I think I have fixed the issue (the computer/network have been up and going for about 15 hours now). The GTX460 I have as my secondary video card is on its way out, so it keeps causing the computer to lock up. I though it was just a folding issue with the card, so I stopped folding on it, however, it still crashed, then when I looked at it last night, I saw that I forgot to remove the OC on it, so I put it back to stock clocks and now it seems to be functioning. I just need this card to tide me over (running 2 of my monitors) until I can get fittings for the GTX470 I bought from Chuck and get it put in the rig, which should be by sometime next week. This should cure the freezes, but I would still love to know why the network locks up any time my rig freezes? Anyway, it shouldn't happen again. If it does, I'm just going to start shutting this rig down when I'm not using it so that I don't lose any more points for the TC.

I started getting bonuses again! Only took four WU's. Once I finish the WU that is crunching now I'll switch back over to the bigadv units.
