I now have an i7-970 test rig running Ubuntu 12.04 natively and folding with the fahclient and fahcontrol 7.1.52 V7 using this Linux Install Guide
I did some preparatory work first to get V7 to install with no unresolved dependencies.
After I installed and updated Ubuntu 12.04 I used Ubuntu Software Center
to install Synaptic Package Manager
Using Synaptic Package Manager
search and install libssl0.9.8
After downloading the package files I copied each of the sudo lines to a terminal.
When the packages were installed I found FAHControl in Dash Home
and with one click I was up and running.
Install the FAHClient.
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends fahclient_7.1.52_amd64.deb
The package will prompt for initial setup information, user name, etc. Enter information or change as needed, and click OK.
Install the FAHControl.
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends fahcontrol_7.1.52-1_all.deb
Optionally, install the FAHViewer.
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends fahviewer_7.1.52_amd64.deb
I also have psensors
and HFM 0.9.1
installed and I'm monitoring my test rig v7 from my 24/7 rig.
