Thought I would post this up.
PHASE CHANGE!!! (Click to show)

Now that I have that out of the way for the bad news. Both of my 1155 MBs are completely FUBAR and I will not be able to get the 2700k back in the race until I can get the RMAs back. I think I know what killed them however I'm not 100% sure at this point. I'm folding on my 980X on win7 for the time being so I will put significantly less points until at the soonest next weekend. I'm hoping that ASUS is quick with the RMA, I'm requesting a cross ship on the 2700k MB, but I just don't know how long it will take. Once I get it I will burn the mid-night oil to get the rig back up and running.

Sorry I haven’t been around in a few days, had to leave town for the weekend, but…here is a giant post of replys!!!

They may need to be reseated and cleaned up. The last time I did that was around a year ago and honestly I don't know how good of a job I did. I was in a hurry.

Team I will be down most of tomorrow as I am using my four day weekend to get the Phase Change installed. I think I have taken my TC Rig to most ludicrous level possible. I fabricated a mount for it and need to take the rig down to mount and insulate the evaporator. If all goes well I will only be down tomorrow and back up Sunday Morning or Afternoon. I want to get the cooler mounted and see how far I can push it before I start pushing WUs again.

Once I get going tomorrow I will post up some pictures of the setup.

The 470s are fine, I think one needs to be reseated, but I’ll worry about it later, with school I just don’t have time. For now they are running at a steady 725MHz, which is good for about 40k PPD from the pair, so I’m happy with it. When summer vacation hits I’m going to be doing a full teardown on my rig and with any luck be rebuilding in either a MM U2-UFO-CYO or a 900D case, so when I do that, I’ll reseat the card and try again. But right now, one is at 50C the other is at 60C, so they’re both doing fine.

Also, I can’t wait to see what you can do with that PC unit, should be CRAZY!!!

I think I know what killed them however I'm not 100% sure at this point. I'm folding on my 980X on win7 for the time being so I will put significantly less points until at the soonest next weekend. All I can say is this SUCKS! Don’t worry about lower points, at least you are putting something up there in the mean time. I just hope ASUS can get your MB back because I want to see what you can do with that PC unit!!

Also, what do you think it was that killed them?

When the GPU downclocks to 405MHz, it means the card overheated and it thermally clocked back. With my cards (my GTX 460s) I would have to restart the rig to get it to clear the thermal downclock. Also, the failed WUs are a key sign of the card getting too hot as well. My cards (all of them) have always started failing WUs when they get too hot.

I ordered a new Asus Maximus IV Gene this morning from Newegg and it is being packaged as we speak. I am hoping that it will be here before the weekend so that I can get the rig back up. My server motherboard is going out for the RMA today.

The Maximus board I ruined had some bent pins from me being a NOOB with insulation and I bent some pins. Needless to say this was a very expensive learning experience. The CPU was good when I tested it in my Server MB. As for that one I think I way over tightened my cooler block and broke a trace under the CPU socket. I have springs and new retention hardware coming tomorrow so I can avoid this with the new board. Since my server tracked HFM and was my command server for all of my folding clients I won’t have any tracking up until I get the new server Motherboard.
Besides my motherboard breaking I think the Phase Change integration went very well. It will be one unit that sits under my desk and makes very little noise. With the CPU being cooled by a phase change the Motherboard VRMs under water with my 360mm radiator I shouldn’t have any heat issues due to overclocking.

Yeah, we've all been there. Luckly I learned my lesson about bent pins with an old P4 MB that only cost me $15 to replace, but yeah, we all do it at some point.

Well, good luck with the rigs and I can't wait to see what you can do with that PC, should be really cool (no pun intended)!

Hope to see your phase fat and happy soon.

in other news

the bad:
Still haven't had time to swap out my 1366 board - it BSOD'd 3x yesterday.

the good:
I put my hand behind my 6950 today, and it's still pushing out warm air - therefore it must be folding.

someone should probably audit me...

dunno why it overheated. was crusing at around 73 - 75c, though i did see it at 79c at one point. my comp crashed earlier with a bunch of errors and wouldn't post. turns out it was a cmos date error & an loose hdmi cord. i did clean the dust out of it, and upped the mV by .05. it's now cruising @ 65c smile.gif

New board is in - bad news bear says it's bigger than the old board, and I spent about 40 minutes trying to wedge the PS2 port past the radiator barb. @#(*@@##$1!

Here's hoping I didn't break this one...
