Advice for a Friend - £350 (Possibly £400) Budget

Hi All,

My friend wants to buy a laptop, she's got £350 saved up. She wants it mainly for watching DVDs, viewing pics, word processing etc. that kind of thing. She'd also like to be able to play games on it, nothing that'll run Doom 3 at high quality or anything but at least be able to play on medium to low settings, is this possible at all? She says she can stretch to £400 but thats pretty much the absolute max.

Thanks in advance guys, appreciate it. Rep + for everyone who can help out.

£400 POUNDS im thinking really isnt enough for a Laptop that can play games at medium settings...There are plent of Nice value Dell laptops out there for what she wants to do with it. Another good site would be this one :http://www.studentcomputers.co.uk/co...op%20city.html

Low would be enough, I realise that playing games isnt really possible with such a low budget.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the help. I've told her that the games arent very likely to happen, she accepts that so could I see a few in the 300 range if possible?

Enterprise, the IBM ones are reconditioned, I know it says grade A and everything but I think she wants something brand new, thanks for that though I was looking for a place to buy a thinkpad

Cheers for the help Guys Rep + all round.

my laptop new last year was 1350 usd. And it could never play doom on decent settings. So i dont think its going to be possible to find that kind of deal at all. You should convince her to get a desktop, unless she is set on a laptop. Desktops are much more economical.

The cheapest laptop I see at dell is 499 usd. But I believe they are having a 1/3 off sale. So that might be an option. And I dont know how much your currency is in american so I might be way off.
