BFG Geforce FX 5500 128bit 256MB

I know it is not the best card out there but I only have PCI Slots and I am about to save up for a new computer. Anyway I do play games (Quake4, FarCry, E.t.c) but have no desire to play them at high settings, I use 800x600 as I have sensitive eyes and higher resolutions have me squinting which does not help. Anyway I am just wondering if I could overclock the 5500 to at least 310 core and hopefully 420 for memory I know it isnt a great overclock but its good enough for me. I avoided getting the oc version as I can just oc it to that specs. I know it is possible to oc up to 290 core because that is what the oc version is up to. Just like to know if I could push it just a little bit more.

P.s. What are the best Performance/Stable drivers for Nvidia fx cards?

Thanks.

As for the drivers, you could get it from www.nvidia.com

What do you plan to use for ocing?

I recommend Coolbits or Rivatuner.

I plan on using NVtweak as it is simple and no need for messing around.

UNzip it, click it, away you go.

Have any of you had good performance with beta drivers?

Use coolbits 2.0 Much easier.

ALso, what is your current card? It might not be much of an improvement over the old one, so let us know.

It is an XFX geforce fx5200 128mb 64bit (Limitation)

the 5500 is 128bit so double the memory bus means it would be twice as fast in the memory department. Right?

Well, there's no DEFINATE overclock for the card, I currently have overclocked my BFG (overlabeled Chaintech) 5700LE 256MB to 450/552MHz, and before I used Custom Drivers, I was @ 432/550MHz.

But there are some people who got 500MHz+ Overclocks on their core speeds, with the same card as I have. And there are some people who don't overclock at ALL becuase the cards aren't going to allow it, its just a luck of the draw really. So, there's no telling what you will/won't get.

oh theres a definate overclock, i have the exact same card, get coolbits, it puts a new tab in your NVIDIA display tab when you right click, i overclocked mine, worked great, then i did it a little too far with factory cooling, overheated and was glitching stuff a tad, so i put it down, got some new fans, then overclocked it way higher
