Is it safe to buy refurb from newegg? If so, what happens if they item doesnt work?

I know they are guarenteed for 15 days after purchase. After those 15 days, no more warrenty. This is just to make sure it isn't DOA.

A lot of the time there isnt really anything wrong with refurbished products. The items may have been incompatible with a certain users system, or they sent it back as broken when it infact was not. Other times they have been serviced. It is a risk, however my friend's entire computer is made of refurbished parts and he has had no problems.

Also watch out that there is actually a price difference. Sometimes they are just a few dollars, that is not worth it IMO.

i buy refurb from egg sometimes and have yet had an issue. Im sure egg would try to advoid selling defective items for the fact that you will most likely be a return customer

i ordered my P4 for my dell refubed a while ago and its still good 2.5 years later its ok but i tried it once for refurb

on the other hand. if there is only a 10-20 dollar difrence in price between the new and refurb, i would still go new then if thats the case

I have bought several refurbished items (mostly from newegg) and haven't had a problem...its like Watertown1978 said, it costs them money for returns....so I cant see why they would sell potentially defective products
