best rig for video editing

Thread Starter
im planning a new rig for a friend of mines.he has got a tv pci card and he makes money selling dvd-s on demand.he use a lot dvd shrink and several video editing programs, but his 3 year old rig isnt doing good(Pentium4 2.4ghz Northy,2x256 pc2100,intel mobo,mx4000 128Mb,80Gb barracuda).he isnt very keen on latest games(but i wouldnt suggest him 6600,id go for a 6600GT).
what would you recomend for a 1000$ budget?

Possibly a Dual core would be good so he could be doing more stuff at once, maybe the Opteron 165.

Intel dual core is the way to go. Maybe the 805? Low fsb but it is dual core and its a pretty nice processor.

I would go for the Intel D920 because everyone knows intel are better for applications and it overclocks realy high.
