Toshiba Tecra S1 -- Task manager crashes?

No clue why this happens, or even how. I bought this second-hand system and it's fine except for a couple things:

One, I have no idea how to get in the BIOS. So if anyone could help me with that, it'd be great.

And second, for some god forsaken reason, Task Manager refuses to stay open. I press ctrl-alt-del, and it's up for a second or two, then just disappears.

Since buying it, I've flashed and the BIOS to the newest version, formatted it and installed XP Pro SP2 on it twice, and both times the task manager problem reared its ugly head.

The specs:
Banias 1.6Ghz
512MB DDR
40GB HDD
Mobility Radeon 9000

To get into bios it should be either DEL, F2 or F10 or F12.

I am not sure about the task manager but i will try to find out.

nope, none of those work. F12 does bring me to a boot selection screen, which looks BIOS-y-like, though I can't do anything other than select where to boot from. Maybe it's locked like that?

Thanks anyway. The BIOS part isn't important. It's the task manager thing that's really annoying.

Have you tried running and Antivirus programs, spyware programs. You could have a virus that is on the hard drive itself and always comes back when you reinstall it. Try a virus scan with most recent updates.
