All rigs will OC differently ... MB and its BIOS options will allow for more control.... the Asus are OK.. just do not allow for that extra tweak.

BIOS versiosn can also play a part so have a look for these and the version you are running.

Getting the system Stable at Stock is a starting point .. otherwise you will not know what is the issue when trying higher.

Are the modules good - run memtest?

Here's what im dealing with now, the mem is set at 2t ..166 in bios

OK.. so I would run the modules at CAS 3-4-4-8, this should allow them to OC further...

or set them at Stock SPD and use the CPU multi to OC that up...

WHat are the temps under load?

The great thing about an FX is that there are so many ways to cut an OC.
