Folding is really just a side fun thing for me. My computers full purpose is gaming, but if I'm going to be at school it might as well fold.

An h80 might be a good investment as opposed to a full custom loop if you want to save money for an Ivy upgrade down the line

I decided to just leave it off overnight (this was 11:30ish) and fixed it this morning. However, IC Diamond is a ***** to get off, took me around 10 qtips and tons of 70% isopropanol to get the gunk off -- and lots of it was still there. Reapplied, temps are around 55C now (load). Hrmpf.... Still acceptable I guess, but not nearly as good. Looks like I'm gonna have to order another tube of this stuff and some arctic clean, hopefully I can get better results next time.

This is the reason why I threw that nasty IC diamond that I bought. They're like nanobots that ate the surface of my shiny 2600K lachen.gif and just made its resale value to the bottom.

I confirmed it as the new drivers causing the problem and reverted back to the old drivers, which contributed to about an entire WU missed. I should have dropped 4 WUs since midnight GMT but I've only dropped 3. Worse yet, the TC stats page is missing one of the contributions even though HFM.NET, EOC, and Stanford all have it. Something's fishy, as this happened to me in December 2011's Fold-A-Thon as well, the stats page lost a SMP WU in that one, now it's missing a GPU WU in the TC.

So, if I'm going to go WC.... Antec Kuhler or an H80 / H100? I don't feel like setting up my own system, I would do it normally but I don't have the money or time.

If you can sprint to a H100, I'd do it; it's low profile and double rad.

Otherwise the other two are the same.

For a CPU only loop, you'll be fine with an H80. If you have the space and have the extra money, get the H100.

I am running a 120.2 rad on a CPU only loop, but I had it handling a CPU, 8800GTX and a northbridge block, which it did fine.

I wanted the ability to run my fans at a relatively low speed, so I chose a bigger rad. You make the call as well. If noise isn't an issue and it'll save you a couple duckets, get the H80.

I think I'm going to go with the Antec Kuhler 920, I read a few horror stories of the H100 leaking. I've got enough fans that the performance difference wouldn't be that big (I can Push Pull on the rad and can toss a ram cooler over the block).

I'm gonna pick up some arcticlean to get the IC Derpmond off of my CPU, and then what? I'm tempted to just go AS5 but I'm not 100% sure. Recommendations?

If you're going to go with an Arctic Cooling TIM, go MX2 or MX3, they're literally just the next generation AS5, better thermal conductivity - electricial conductivity tongue.gif

Pretty sure Arctic Cooling =! Arctic Silver. Different companies. You mentioned MX3 is the "Next Generation", but I don't think the MX series actually has any silver in it.

Thanks for the suggestion though! MX3 is definitely on the list. I'll have to look at more benchmarks and reviews before I order, don't want to make the same mistake I made with IC Diamond (Great stuff but terrible stains o.0)

No, the WU is lost in limbo. sks confirmed it in the TC general thread. He told me that between 7pm EST ( midnight GMT) and 1am EST (6am GMT) that no WUs count at all. So I am missing at the very least one of my 5,187 point WUs and very well may be missing a second 5,187 point WU. So I'm anywhere between 5,187 and 10,374 points down from where I should be.

Next month I am going to switch to standard WUs near the end of the month deadline, as they're faster but smaller point values than the -advmethods WUs, and I will spam those WUs until I see a point log begin on the TC stat site. Once I see points accruing on the TC stats site I will switch to the much slower but beefier point value (and better PPD) -advmethods WUs. Needless to say, I'm rather annoyed by my luck, as those points did not count in last months stats nor did they count in this months stats. They're simply gone; Stanford, EOC, and my own logs have them, but they will not count as TC points.

Yup, according to the graph I posted here http://www.overclock.net/t/830235/slammers/1190#post_16330261 you're correct. The MX3 is the best product from Arctic Cooling and Arctic Silver 5 is one of the worst ones reviewed. Unfortunately they didn't have Shin Etsu on the review.

For easy to use, ThermalTake TG-1 is the best on that list and the ThermalRight CF III (or Chill Factor III) is almost identical. I've used the CF III on my CPU and it's great; it's very easy to apply. Both should be easy to acquire.

Yeah, they're different companies. MX3 isn't bad, but it's not one of the best, according to the review that I posted earlier. Try the Thermalright CF III or Thermaltake TG-1 offerings instead. Applying CF III is about the same as applying the really old Arctic Silver products, if not a bit easier.
