Slammers - Page 86

Well, I'm getting bigadvs, clocked at 4.1GHz, running 24/7. Don't see how wrong I could get
post #852 of 2256
Are you folding in Linux or Windows?

I don't really have a choice, but I am techno-inept, at least within the present company. I'm not sure how I finally got Ubuntu configured to pull -bigadv; if I had to do it over again I might explode.

In related news, the 6903 is about halfway there!

Folding on Windows, client v6. Upgrading to v7 this weekend, and possibly hugeadv in a VM.

How many points did you say again?
This WU should be worth 250,000. So, it looks like nothing is going on for a few days, then major points...

Check out v7. It was a nice format to see, but since I'm constrained to folding regular SMP in windows, it just wasn't giving me the PPD I wanted. I think I was getting like 18K PPD with regular SMP whereas folding the hugeadv WU's will net me somewhere around 50-60K PPD. Kinda a no brainer, right?

Smasher update:
The WUs are being completed but that computer is having internet issues and isn't sending them over to Stanford. He's going to see how he can fix it.

I've got Digi looking into it shortly. He's gonna remote in and see about getting dem points flowing
post #858 of 2256
my -bigadv is "hung" at 92% what do i do!? i don't want to restart the client if I'm going to lose it, unless that's the only way to fix it and i have to eat the lost points.

EDIT: well it got back going, but i think i lost some point due to the hang up. should be finished in about 3 hours now

@Omega: Thanks man, good to know Digi's got our back

@Morencyam: As long as it doesn't crash, points are points!
It's good to hear that we've got the brains on the case!. Hopefully Digi is able to figure out why the connection is nerfed.

Morencyam - glad to see you were able to get the bigadv unit back up. even losing a checkpoint or two when at 90% isn't a huge loss. So long as you make the deadline and get the points, we're happy!

As for mine, I'm at 85% so I'm expecting it to drop by late next morning. These hugeadvs are hell on a lil ol quad core..
