Figured you did, actually!
I have discovered that shims under the AIO cooler adds about 10c to temps, but it is required to avoid cutting the heat plate. But I did remove the heat plate on the SC, mainly due to the simple fact I didn't have one! Therefore, it was imperative that I cool the MOSFETS, which I did with aftermarket ill-fitting heat sinks on top of thermal pads (so I wouldn't short something out). There again, these were what I had on hand and weren't made quite right for my application. After a little bit of modification and scratching my head on how to hold them in place I finally ended up bending a PCI cover plate to hook on both sides of the card being careful to isolate any contact with the PCB. I also added heat sinks to chips where the heat plate never even made contact. My temps are running 50c no matter which unit I'm folding, and I think I still have more head room to go even higher on my clock! I'm taking it slow and easy so as not to lose a unit and/or fall way behind in points. I work all day, so I can't keep a close eye on things.
With that said, I've ordered proper heat sinks for the MOSFETS on the Classy and am going to eliminate the factory heat plate and shim under the cooler, along with adding sinks to the other components. RAM cooling isn't even necessary, as I've down clocked the RAM to the lowest setting. I don't think I'll get the performance I'm getting with the SC, but who knows? This thing may be a beast in disguise!
Also, I'm looking for a way to add another AIO (Corsair H-60) to the MOSFETS on the SC. Haven't found what I'm looking for yet, but I will! I have a chip between them that I have to clear....
