I cut them off on my 770 for the AIO and then re-mounted the original cooler with no issues. You'll have four screws you won't be able to reinstall, but they don't go to the cooler anyway. From what I've seen all they do is insure good contact of the midplate to the RAM chips/thermal tape. These extra screws and "tits" aren't on MSI cards, which is one of the reasons I've been opting for them over EVGA.
