my cpu or quake 4, help!!

Thread Starter
ok so i got quake 4 and downloaded the new dual core patch 1.1 beta and when i try to use the dual core option in quake 4 my game lags terribly. by the way im in max quality with 16x anti aliasing. i have random crashes and teh whole thing but only wheni play quake does this happen. i put the game in single core mode and my framerates go up and it doesnt crash at all. this only happens in this game not doom3 or halflife 2 or anything. is this my cpu or is it teh game or something. my cpu temps dont exceed 47 clecius when i play this game. help!!

Personally it sounds Like Driver or Patch issue its doubtfull that it is your CPU. If you say you can run Half life 2 and Doom3 in dual core mode with no Problems then its most likley just an issue with Quake 4.

Quake 4 and Doom run on the same engine, so it's most likely a patching problem in Quake.

yeah i thought it had to do with quake 4, but half life 2 and doom 3 dont have a dual core patch so you cant compare it. so should i wait for a new patch thats not beta or try the windows xp dual core hotfix

Well i would try re-installing the game and the patch and updating some drivers to see if that will help.
