I guess I should have known better, but I've had really good success with open box products in the past. I hate the jerk who sent this board back without all the cables. Oh well I gambled and lost this time.
I would make sure they don't charge for you all that since the item was unuseable.

Thanks, I wish I could, but the NewEgg open box refund policy makes it clear that they only guarantee the item itself will be included. All accessories even those required to take full advantage of it's features are not guaranteed.

Like I said it was a risk. While I had the board in my possession however, I got a chance to make sure that everything will fit, confirmed that the memory I ordered is on the list of recommended RAM, and just check the board out in general. Overall I'm very impressed, and can't wait to start my build (even though I'll have to )

Did you send it back already? I have an extra ROG cable.

Yeah I sent it back. It's the I/O shield missing that really was the killer. If that had been there I would have kept it. Ugh. Whoever got it first: I hate you.

Just try there CS. You might get lucky. The whole point of buying open box is take advantage of the price, but it's useless if you can't use it, because the main pieces needed are missinh.

What DVD drive is a good one to use. I don't need blu-ray since my PS3 will be 2 feet away from this.

My reasoning is this: When using the SATA II ports on this MB in RAID 0 the SandForce drives are actually faster than the C300's today. Plus they are about $125 cheaper. As far as future proofing is concerned, it seems unlikely that a driver update from Marvell will fix all the issues. More than likely a new chipset (probably from Intel) will be needed to take full advantage of SATA III. In addition the C300's themselves don't yet take full advantage of the SATA III speed. The next generation SandForce controllers are rumored to get closer to the 600 MB/s theoretical maximum of the bus. In other words it would take a full MB upgrade to do a good SATA III RAID 0 setup, and by that time much better SSD controller chips and much cheaper GB/$ ratio drives will be available.

What does everyone else think? Splurge on the C300's today or go with the trusty SandForce drives instead?
I have recently finished my build. I am currently running a C300 (64 gb) in the SATA III port, no RAID setup. No problems exist so far.

You should try LG. Among the drives and manufacturers that I have researched, it seems to be the best build; lite-on's don't seem to be as reliable as in the past years. I am currently using a non-lightscribe SATA LG DVD Burner (GH22NS50), and no problems so far. The noise level is also minimal.
