One thing to consider is when you OC your CPU to 4,4GHz and UnCore to 3,0GHz and put both under load it might not cope with the heat.

Have you tried to downclock to 4,0GHz with lower vcore and the same UnCore frequency?

When you set 1.412 in bios what is your real value? it drops quite a bit under load, you can use a DMM and read the value at the measurement points, if you find that the drop is to big you can enble the QPI LL, you might need ~1,45 in real value to be stable with P95.

Don´t know why LinX with the same ram load as P95 blend is okay and not P95, might be that the L3 Cache don´t get any load with LinX but with P95.

Safe voltage, I really don´t know, as you don´t use red figures I guess it´s okay.

Have you tried to run HCI Design Memtest?

Thanks for the reply yet again Ghost.
No not downclock, but with HT off and rest of the settings EXACTLY the same I can pass prime every which way to Sunday. I just finished a 14hr run this AM.
No HT everything is happy. Second I turn on HT, prime BSODs after certain period of time.

I did run memtest for 30-40min to check my ram, but that was on everything stock, i just wanted to test the mem as it was over a year old.... I need to run memtest when overclocked too?

When you say measurement points.... you mean like voltmeter?

@Davit

Might be to much heat with HT on at 4,4GHz and UnCore at 3,2GHz for P95.

How long can you run HCI Design Memtest at 4,4GHz with UnCore at 3,2GHz?

Voltmeter (DMM > Digital Multimeter), yes, check the picture below.

Thanks brother,
I run HCI design memtest for an hour tomorrow. Is that enough or do I need to run it more?
My temps never go above 70* max in real temp, but I will run HCI and see what I can get.
Maybe I will just keep it 4.4 w/o HT as it is a gaming rig. Shame to do that for an i7 though. I'll also check voltages with voltmeter. Thanks for the pic man!

@Davit

You´re welcome

Run Memtest for a 6 - 12 hrs to see if your UnCore can take it.

BTW, I see that you run a 600Gb Velociraptor, what´s your thought about it?

Thinking of buying one since I start to run out of space on my 150Gb Velociraptor.

I expect to get my new R3F in a day or two, can´t wait to get up and running.

Funny I replaced my 300 and 150Gb raptors with it.
It is definitely faster than 150GB hands down, you can see it right off the bat. It is quieter than both 300 and 150, only thing I saw that is weird so far is I don't think it is working right on the 6Gb/s port... And this maybe due to the fact that I had marwell drivers installed for ahci... I get a weird freeze once in a while... hard to explain really. I only saw it once so far, but it was definitely there. I know people had problems with marwell drivers and SSDs, not sure if it works out the same way for the Velociraptor...

just "sidegraded" so to speak from a P6X58D-E to the R3III Formula

Mainly because I didn't like the PCI Express slot spacing for my 2 5850's with the P6X58D-E

Got everything connected up last night, gotta play around with the OC settings for my i7 970 now.

1st time playing with a ROG board since the Rampage 1 back in the LGA 775.
Any suggestions on some settings i can set?
I was running my i7 970 before with the P6X58D-E at 4.0 ghz and 1.25 Vcore

I am glad your boards are working fine. I did not have that much luck. I ordered EVGA P55 FTW 200 SLI instead of a third Maximus. Also, my SB is going back to store.

i am in the same boat as azianai i have the formula with the i7 970, i have it auto clocked to crazy 3.6mhz setting. im running on air cooling and it idles at around 30-35 and under load around 50-55. i dont know much about overclocking but would like to know some good stable settings. im not looking to go crazy just somthing fast and stable. also running sli evga 570's

Mother ****er!!!!
So I dropped my speeds back to stock 3.0, mem to 1600Mhz to run HCI to test the mem as a baseline( 6hrs stock, 6hrs OC'ed) and it failed!
Which means one of my mem sticks is bad...
No Wonder I can't get a stable OC dammit!

Memtest 86 gave it a clean bill of health... ***?!
post #410 of 623
@Davit

Faulty memory, not necessarily true.

The different between Memtest 86 and HCI Design Memtest are that Memtest86+ only test the memory and HCI Design Memtest put stress on both the memory and the IMC, so I belive it´s still the IMC that can´t take the stress.

Your still run your memory at 1600 which give you a UnCore of 3,2GHz, so you still put a lot of stress on the IMC.

What is you QPI/DRAM Core voltage?

Does it fail both at stock and OC after 6hrs?

When you run stock, is it with Bclk 133?
