Best AMD system money can buy.

Thread Starter
What I am wondering, is what is the best AMD system one can build at this moment (no dual CPU or quad cpu, just single cpu). Please include links or names with specific details.
I want to know this, just to get a little bit more famliliar with the best of the best computers out there.
Thanks!

Well that is a quite broad question but to break it down to socket 939 as this is currently the popular choice.

In the single core corner the FX-57 and the 4000+Sandiego also the Opteron 154 (I think not sure on this).

In the dual core corner the FX-60 and the X2 4800+ again the Opteron 270 (still unsure on the opteron's spec's).

But if you are looking at a highend system from AMD in the near future you would be better served by awaiting the release of the new core.

cheers

If you are looking for the best pre-built systems the companies like Falcon Northwest, and Alienware may provide you best options. There are a lot out there looking for your business.

The dirty little secret is you could build the same system they are trying to sell you for $4000 for half the cost. So if you have a computer in mind from one of those places just check out www.newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com and see what it would cost your to build it yourself. There are a ton of self help threads about building yourself, and you can always come back here for advice.

He asked what the best system one can build is. So, hes wondering about building, not pre built.
The 3700+ and the opty 246 are great for single core choices.

Well this motherboard could be about the best you could get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136166

And this is the fastest single core cpu you can get at the moment: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103558

With that mobo and cpu I would get this memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231021

Video card would be a 7900GTX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130280 ,you could get an ATI but I like nVidia.

I would use this cooling on the CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106061 or a custom watercooling setup.

That would be about the best money could buy given the parameters you listed.

MOBO - DDFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert (Exelent overclocker)

Well if you really wanted the BEST cooling I'd look at a Vapochill or some other phase change unit http://www.overcool.com/exec/product...550570&redir=1

I have wondered this for quite some time now...what exactly is phase changing? Is it like watercooling?
