SLI or not SLI ???!!

Thread Starter
what's the impact, if i set a singgle graphic card (6600 GT) on the SLI mobo?.. is there any different performances between using single Graphic card on SLI mobo and using single graphic card using NON-SLI mobo???? what's the appropriate one, whether SLI or NON-SLI mobo (for singgle 6600 GT graphic card)???

You could buy the ASUS 32x SLI or MSI K8N Diamond Plus 32X so instead of having 8x each on SLI you get 16x each SLI does help make sure you have enough power and a good ventilated case with side fan or side vents near bottom to help disspate all that heat from two gpu's running at same time.
Hoped this helped. SLI does help instead of one card doing the 3D image its two cards doing 50% each so the image is much more smooth.

there's no penalty for using a single card on an SLI mobo. They all use the same chipset.

Most boards that have SLi capabilities have the X16 split. But when one card is used all 16X is used in that one slot. It's when 2 cards are present that the 2 PCIe slots are divided to 8x. So any board will do unless you wan't to have 2 cards in the future. But it wouldn't really matter since no hardware/software right now can take full use of Sli.

The newer boards from Abit,Asus,MSI support full X16 on both PCI-e slots in SLI.

He doesn't need a dual 16x lane motherboard, not even the 7900GTX uses the full 8x bandwidth, and a 6600GT certainly does not. There is no downside to running a single card on a SLI motherboard, it just allows you to upgrade to SLI in the future.
i would go with a DFI or Gigabyte board. Im not sure how Albatron does in Overclocking tho. The difference in price isnt big at all. Maybe with DFI, but Gigabytes are pretty cheap in price and high in quality.
