Use a volt meter to test the voltage at the motherboard connector while it is on.

Either the motherboard is dead, the cpu is dead, or the psu is seriously defective. These are the only things i've seen that cause a totally blank, silent rig. Even if the ram is bad, it will still beep if everything else works.

..some motherboards?
i thought it was operating systems that determined the minimum RAM the system shall use to run that OS?

..

funny thing is your exact problem happened to me the other day, i found the problem though, the monitor cable had been cut inside so i had to go out and buy a new one!
But you have already tested all cables so i guess this isn't much help!
Like i said try swapping PSU's if you have a spare anywhere, its just one of the PSU cables could potentially just have been damaged causing it to run partially!

Try swapping the cable itself not just the monitor.

Power Supply could be bad. Old power supplies, especially generic ones are not able to deliever the required power due to capacitor degerating. Check the power supply if you can. Also if the power supply is 20 pin and the motherboard has 24pin connector make sure the cover is in place. And check if the 4 pin 12V connector is in or video card will not work. Try that and reply. Good Luck

Don't Asus motherboards have POST Diagnostic Lights? If it's not on your motherboard, it's on a pci card included with your motherboard. If you look at those lights, it will tell you exactly what's wrong and where POST is failing. If you don't know the codes, list the lights on here and I can tell you what's wrong.
