GTS 450 vs HD 5770

Thread Starter
Anyone actually gotten a chance at the GTS 450? I've read a lot about it, but an OC 450 looks like a good challenger.

I've heard from various sources (review sites) online that the GTS 450 is still a bit slower than the 5770, which you can expect due to the price point at launch difference.

Although I'm just as curious about this as you are as I am deciding whether I should purchase a GTS450 for use in my test bench.
Anyone have any HANDS-on experience/knowledge?

So here’s the deal. For the most part, Nvidia’s GeForce GTS 450 does what the company says it’s supposed to. It generally lands in between the Radeon HD 5770 and 5750 performance-wise. And, if Nvidia is correct with its pre-launch pricing projections, it’ll cost somewhere around $129.

Maybe it’s the fact that we’re all jacked up on Mountain Dew. Maybe it’s the fact that we’re used to talking about more enthusiast-class graphics products. Or maybe it’s the fact that last generation’s cards still make for good gaming solutions. Whatever the reason, it’s genuinely difficult to get excited about something we saw from AMD 11 freaking months ago, priced to match.

I heard the 450 falls between the 5750 and 5770. It and the 5770 trades blows in a few games however

I got the 5770 sitting on my desk here ready for work when i get a new board. Just hoping i made the right choice. Gonna be all over Bad company 2 and SC2. Running at 1680x1050 Hoping that this Psycx thing is just a gimmick like a few of my buddies have said.

I turn it off on every game I have that uses it. I personally don't like it and I feel when they call it a gimmick, they're right. The 5770 is a little beast. If you can get a second, you'll have amazing results. Almost went with two myself before I got my 5870 which ultimately lead me to my 470.
