Wow, mobo is locked :(

Thread Starter
Bought a new 775 socket mobo... Intel's D101GGC. All the fsb and clock options are locked. I almost cried when i found this out. Not even clockgen supports this mobo. Am I up lag river with a 56k connection or what?

Most intel boards are locked / few allow for a 5%+ OC, but nothing major. Case in point, don't buy an intel board, buy the intel chipsets

I mean u know that Intel don't want u to overclock...it really makes sense that their mobo are locked, unlike DFI, Asus and such they do let u overclocks. Like the one Asus I had P5DG2-Premium I went from 3.0 to 3.8 but then didn't have enough cooling so I didn't know how much more I could go due to heat problem.

i got the same mobo and it´s locked in the bios but i don't know why you complain so much, intel brand board can't be oc by the bios since a long time ago but you still can do it by software like clockgen and even that they´re better than many of your loved mobos

so if you want to oc by clockgen you got to use ics 954123 and click ignore gsb/pci you can push your fsb a lot

Seems like intel is changing their policy tho.. the D975XBX is overclocker-friendly.. it won't oc as high as the other 975 chipset boards..but it's a step to the right direction..

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/..._and_tomorrow/

Was choosing between 3 boards.. Asus P5WDG2-WS, Gigabyte GA1975x and the Intel D975XBX..
But since I know I'll be OC-ing the new rig, I backed out from getting the intel.. was going for ASUS.. no stock.. and the price was ridiculous (here).. so got the Gbyte...
