a snag while overclocking

Thread Starter
well i ama first time overclocker. my profile is below on what i have. i changed the HT to 4x and was able to push the FSB to 218 which came out to make my amd 3700 clock at 2.41 mhz. if i make it 219 the system wont boot up. if i change it to 3x it still won't let me go above 218. i tried splitting the ram in either direction and that didn't help, neither did adding a small amount of voltage to the cpu. What am i supose to do at this point to speed up my cpu?

You need to increase your Ram voltage if your ram is topping out at 218 ATM.

Are you trying to mess with dividers right now or just playing it easy?

you tried a 166/333 divider? Wow i really havent the faintest idea why its being so fussy. With a 3700 you should hav eot do much up to 250 fsb other than raise it 5 at a time. Try setting the vcore at 1.45 and bump the ram voltage up a tick. Seems odd. I hope some one else has some ideas for ya.

hmm i cant see it being your processor and ram really shouldnt give up at 219 no matter what kind. Try one stick and see what kind of luck you have maybe something is haywire with it. I cant see you really doing anything wrong here. Can you post us a cpu-s screenie?

no it doesn't, its set at 100 and can be cahnged. I upped the voltage and divided the ram again and i still can't get it any further. I'm wondering if it has to do with the motherboard i chose?

your problem would be more your pci bus rather than your pci-e if that's what the problem is.

if you have specified the setting then it should be locked.

I've just found that most issues relating to instability with very low fsb increase is more often than not related to the pci bus not being locked.

it needs to be locked at 33MHz

kinda long but does give thier opinion on the board. Im at a loss fo rya on this one. Other than uping the voltage for the ram and cpu i cant see what to do. Done a bios update since you got the board and what version is yours?
