stepping is not something you do to your CPU, it is like a new, updated batch of your CPU model

DH-CH is not the stepping. Even though that is probably want you found in CPU-Z. It can only be found on the top of the processor in the second line. It usually can give you an idea of how well you can overclock your cpu.

okay cool. I just had another look in cpu-z and it has a big fat 0 next to stepping. underneath that is the revision which is the dh7-cg. what would the 0 mean? does it mean that i can't or shouldn't ovreclock my cpu?

No dude...You should ALWAYS overclock your CPU lmao. This IS overclock.net after all.

Forget everythign you've ever heard about steppings...and just try and overclock. Follow the guides and you'll do fine.
