3400+ ocing help.

Thread Starter
The highest I can currently get my 3400+ is 2.52 ghz. My ram won't tolerate any higher than the 420 I have it running at with that. I tried giving the processor 1.6V and going up to 220 fsb with the FSB at 3x instead of 4x with a 5:6 divider and it won't boot. Anybody got any experience or ideas for this OC. This is a socket 754 3400+ that runs at 2.4 ghz stock at 200x12. Heat is currently not a problem as under load I am at about 45*Celsius.

Try throwing in a more aggresive divider to see if you can push your processor any more. You may have several limiting factors. You should take the memory out of the equation to eliminate one. If you still have issues, then you should look at your PSU. Is it providing stable and consistent power? Run OCCT at a clock you know you will have stability with and see how your voltage jumps around on the +12v +5v and +3.3v rails. There should not be a fluctuation more then 5% of the total, and the +12v rail should stay just below or above 12v. If your PSU turns out to be solid then you will have to maybe look to your motherboard or to the fact that you have an average cpu that will not overclock much. Hopefully the first two solutions turn up some beneficial information for you.

2.54ghz seems to be about the most the 754 newcastle seems to be able to do. That is the most i can run mine without it being unstable, but then I am very limited in overclocking abilities due to the fact that my mobo is very basic. Whenever i have tried going higher it just locks up or does not boot.
i have mine at 212x12. I left the ram until after i ran 3dmark03 looped for a few hours to make sure it was okay. My only real recommendation is to get a new cpu/mobo that has better ocing capability. but that is what i want to do.....just finances limit my options....and kids....dammit

I have tons of overclocking options with my mobo I just can't seem to get any of the configurations to boot. I think that this chip just has very little room for overclocking. Oh well I guess 2520 mhz at 210x12 is with the ram at 220 1:1 is the best I am going to get.

I tried a ton of new cofigurations today with 4:3 divider and one almost made it all the way into windows which I guess is progress lol. The highest stable is 208x12=2496 with the ram at 416 1:1 HTT at 4x.
