that's the worst advice I've ever heard!

you can always run your RAM on a dividor if it won't clock as high as you want... but you can't run your cpu on a dividor if it won't clock as high as you want.

your best bet is a 3700+sd because it will typically oc better than the venice core cpus and it has double the cache. if at all possible get a 3700+sd. if not then get a 3200+ venice. there is no need to get a 3500+, and the extra multiplier of the 3200+ will make it a lot easier to work with than the 3000+

alright, here is some bh5

that is really good RAM, but I would really suggest you go w/ either 2x512mb or 2x1gb so you can run dual channel.

what will you be using this computer for?

mmm YES but it works both ways though. For me I have the 3 cheapest CPU 's on the market at the moment, 3000+\\3200+\\144 opty and they all can OC to high heaven. I would rather spend the extra on some very good ram then cheap ram and a great cpu. I know I have the headroom with the cpu but will the RAM pull its weight, cheap ram most likely wont.

Works both ways sometimes

I had a 3200+ venice and it would only go to 2.6max stable.

for gaming and photoshop you should really consider 2gb

IDK not alot i think like $100 is good but i already chose the G.Skill Ram
post #19 of 21
but that g.skill will only run single channel. if you get that then you'll want to add a second stick at a later time

As soloz2 pointed out correctly the purchase of 2 x 512Mb rather than a single 1Gb module would afford you the use of dual channel and increased bandwidth.

cheers
