Ok ill be buying a new GPU in a couple days but i need to decide, 7900gtx or x1900xtx.
Now lets weigh the pros and cons.

7900GTX Cons:
1. $50 bux more than the X1900XTX.
2. Marginally slower than the X1900XTX.

7900GTX Pros:
1. Runs cooler and consums less power.
2. I have an SLI board.

X1900XTX Cons:
1.Runs hot and consumes more power.
2. I don't have a crossfire board.

X1900XTX Pros:
1. $50 cheaper than the 7900GTX and has a $50 MIR ($100 total cheaper)
2. Perfrorms marginally better than the 7900GTX
3. Built in voltage control for sky high overclocking

Any more things to consider and recomendations? I may not ever even go SLI or Crossfire so thats not much of a factor.

Here are the two i picked out

Sounds like the X1900XTX is a winner. I am a bit of nVidia fan but it really depends on SLI or Crossfire.
I am actully in the same situation. I am building a new rig and I need to find the right GPU.

7900GTX. Every benchmark I've seen puts the performance dead even with the X1900XTX, and it will be cheaper to run in your system. Plus, once you feel the performance is lacking, you can pop in another one.

Edit: And why not get the $530 GTX, and OC it yourself?

depends on cooling
if you get a really good cooling like watercoling or a good fan get the x1900xtx
because of the overclocking ability

Well since we have talked in person you know I will say get the 7900gtx. You and I both know in the future you will want to go SLI if only to see how far you can OC. Good luck and hope to see you again soon. How is the family?

7900GTX because of the SLi board and economy (you are probably concerned about price and the 7900GTX uses less power). And, as Namrac said, you could get a cheaper card that isn't pre-OC'ed.

im really leaning towards the 7900GTX because of the power stuff, ill pay the extra $20.... whats this i hear you cant have AA and HDR on at the same time?? and here is something else im worried about.....

NVIDIA's trouble is image quality, and IQ performance. ATI's latest Radeon parts - X1800 and X1900 - have better overall image quality available, and with better looking pixels always desirable when performance is the same, you'd have to really like 7900 GTX for other reasons to want to select it.

I wouldn't use sli as a factor cause once the next greatest nvidia card comes out it will beat your two 7900's for a less money than sli. Id go with the 1900xtx and wait for the dx10 cards to come out.

the only thing that is stopping me from really getting that is the power consumption. 7900gtx takes 89 watts and the X1900XTX takes like 135 watts... maybe ill just suck it up and get it cause it is a 100 bux cheaper
