I believe the one that says "Aux" is what the bios uses to determine thermal shutdown. A couple cores were at 85C for 10-20seconds before Aux hit 85 and shutdown happened a few seconds after that.

Just ran prime 95 and it made it all the way thru test 1 this time peaking at 82C on a core. (WOOT!) However it quickly jumped up to 85 when 'test 2' started so I stopped the testing to prevent system shutdown by bios.

I'll check realtemp now.

Well the Real Temp window only shows the cores. It is the exact same temperature as the 4 core sensors picked up by Everest. So your guess is as good as mine what the 'cpu' and 'aux' are measuring. Its doing small FFT test instead of the blended I used earlier and that seems to be keeping the temps in check. Its almost 85 as I write this but... is lasting longer.

Heatup phase has completed, I'll probably have to stop it manually in a second... oop nevermind that now its cooldown phase..

This 'distance to TJmax' = 18C makes me think I could turn off the 85C shutdown I enabled in BIOS... I mean comeon thats 18 more degrees I can push it! lol

I just like to check with Real Temp when Everest is being used because Real Temp is focused on just the core temps.

But now I'm curious: does the CPU's core voltage stay at 1.18V under full load? Another great program is CPU-Z.


Edit: What do you mean by heatup phase and cool down phase?

Yes, its 1.19V sometimes but mainly 1.18. So yea the OP has been solved and you could lock this if you wanted to get technical. but you're such a good resource!

Intel specs say range goes up to 1.4V so if I get a serious cooling solution and want to 'crank it up the gigawatts' as I like to say, then I could turn this up a bit in bios as well.

I'm reading the phases off the bottom of the program you said to get (real temps) ... its on test #8 now.

They don't lock threads unless they get out of hand. That way, all useful threads remain open to maximize their usefulness.

That benchmark thing isn't a stress test though. Or, the sensor test or whatever. Try to stick to things like Prime95's Small FFTs test to determine maximum temperatures (for 10 minutes).

Seems my 3rd core is the weakest link here. This was a Sensor test btw.

So basically a 'blended' test in prime 95 will result in shutdown shortly after Test #2 but using the FFT small test recommended by real temp I was able to complete all 10.

I've never used the sensor test, nor have I ever seen it recommended to anyone, so I don't know what I'm looking at, and I feel that it may not matter as well.

Do you mean all 10 minutes? If so, then a 10-minute Small FFTs run is just to find out what the maximum load temperatures are.
