Increase Tomb Raider Legend performance

Ok guys I have been looking around and found that many people are wondering to turn on or turn off next gen effects. Well next gen looks really nice but the down side is that it really lags, I've seen some people running a 7900gtx and still getting lag issues.

From what I have read its the GPU that is not powerful enough to handle HDR, but I am guessing that the drivers need to be optimized.

Anyway here is is one way it might work (no/less lag), but you wont get SM 3.0/HDR

Just find your Tomb Raider folder in regedit, and there should be a graphics folder. Change the value of Shader Model 3.0 to 0

thanx to bollyraja...

let me know how it goes for you guys...

Err... what makes you think SM3 causes lag? Doesnt everything use SM3 nowadays?

I dont care what anyone says, my 7900GTX will ROCK

sorry my mistake its actually HDR that hits the performance, not SM3.0, sorry for that mistake...

However disabling SM3.0 works, especially for those who are running older cards and lower end ones...

first off what do you mean by "next gen" are you talking about the HDR lighting?

and yes SM3.0 will not cause lag as has previously stated its the HDR

So if you disable SM3, you sacrifice HDR for next gen? I would rather have HDR on...

yup disabling SM3.0 will disable HDR as HDR depends on SM3.0...

anyway some people with lower specs might wanna try it, it depends on what you want in the end, playing with all the eye candy on at like 15fps or playing at like 50fps
